How do you make a forward momentum effect for levels?

Archive: 4 posts

On some levels you see it as though you are moving forward. I tried to position a game camera to make it look as though you are looking straight but can't seem to get it working. I also tried to make a glitched back layer come to the front layers but with no success. Any suggestions or help will be very nice. 2011-10-11 22:04:00

It is possible to make a "glitched back layer" move towards you, and it's actually very easy. Just use one of the many "glitched" extra layers tools available and make a thin square as far back as you can. Then go into 'Front View' and put a mover on it. Set the mover to follow a tag or a player. The mover will probably look like it's stuck to something invisible in the front layers if you swith out of 'Front View', but all you do is make sure you're in front view, then box select the mover and move it around slightly. Then replace it and it should pop all the way back onto your square. Then either place a tag for the follower to follow, or position sackboy in front of the square and it should travel towards you.
Sounds complicated but that's the simple part. The complicated bit is how to emit stuff on the far back plane to produce the effect you're after.
I seem to remember the adipose had a great tutorial on that very subject. Just search the tutorials section or on youtube for "TheAdipose and Luos_Desruc".
Good luck with it. It was a bit too much for me!
