Anyone like to join random invites? I do :^) I get a handful a day and I usually have fun meeting new sack people. | 2011-10-10 08:53:00 Author: CENTURION24 Posts: 266 |
i find it extremely annoying. imo | 2011-10-10 09:03:00 Author: The_Lil_JoKeR Posts: 745 |
I find it hard not to get paranoid after reading complaints in LBPC about people getting griefed or robbed of their creations. If it's a friend of mine or someone I met on a forum and promised to help, I'll join. If it's a stranger, I decline. I could be missing the opportunity for a random and wonderful LBP friendship, but I don't care. Trolls and kids are far too common to risk it. | 2011-10-10 10:30:00 Author: SnipySev Posts: 2452 |
In the Beta, I found out that you could send invites to random players that weren't on your friends list. Whenever I tried it though, I always got an error message which meant I couldn't send it. I haven't tried using it again since. | 2011-10-10 14:08:00 Author: D-E-S_87 Posts: 148 |
I don't really worry about people stealing my creation since it would take them months to figure out how to use it lol But I do typically agree most strangers I met were kids, and would try to copy every little thing from costumes to logic. I never accept blind join request mainly because it just slows down my development, since i am constantly staring them down on my screen to make sure they don't do anything stupid, like copying or placing weird objects in the level, wasting my thermo, And they bring their friends along, and everything gets laggy.... I guess if you dont want to get anything done, then its fine. But I personally would much rather meet people of forums or something, just to know they are the more serious LBP players and are less likely to be annoying. | 2011-10-10 14:09:00 Author: Rpg Maker Posts: 877 |
I almost never accept invites from random people, though the fact that I get them is an honor because it means they probably want to meet me, as is the case with anyone. | 2011-10-10 14:25:00 Author: ATMLVE Posts: 1177 |
I will once in a while - especially if someone has a message. But most times, I respond back and let them know that I don't have the time right, but ask if they have a question or something? I had a kid who kept leaving comments saying he was my biggest fan - so, I tried to make special time to show him some stuff that was unreleased etc. But in general, my experiences with accepting invites, or doing dive in have been pretty useless - bordering on annoying. So, I tend not to accept. I don't worry about anyone stealing anything - I would never bring a stranger into create in a project - and they can have my costume if they want to steal it - I'd never wear anything that was that important. | 2011-10-10 16:17:00 Author: CYMBOL Posts: 1230 |
I don't understand why this "feature" was added. Even months after my MM pick I still have to delete a few of these a day...and for a while there it was dozens. The in-game invites are fine...the mailbox version is dumb; if I'm not even signed in to PSN I couldn't play with you even if I was so inclined. There's no way to opt out of these is there?!? * I can probably write "Come play LittleBigPlanet with me, it's super fun" in 20 languages now. Talk about a dumb message...no wonder people think this is a kids game! | 2011-10-10 16:37:00 Author: fullofwin Posts: 1214 |
LittleBigPlanet has about 14 ways for people to meet and interact, but only six or so work the way they're supposed to, and they're treated flippantly. Invites are spam. At best they're redundant, since no one serious sends an invite without having somehow also reached you (or left a gameplay trail) via the game's many, many better channels of communication. | 2011-10-11 03:32:00 Author: Unknown User |
I've never gotten any. The LBP public must be too intimidated by my godlike level creations. *cough* FOREVER ALONE.... But seriously like fullofwin said, it is stupid there is no option to disable it. Just like there is no option to set the default background noise to 0% when creating a new level on your moon. If I did get one, I would only join if the message was unique and they actually referenced something in my level. LBP is so beautifully broken. | 2011-10-11 05:24:00 Author: midnight_heist Posts: 2513 |
I mean...I'm 33 and counting...and not a great creator, so when I get invites, I'm like... "WTF, what do you have in your head man? soap?" | 2011-10-11 07:13:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
I let some join every once in awhile. The funniest one was one kid joined me, smiled, said "OMG " then went back to his pod. That kid was Centurion24...jk (dont put me in an ankle lock XD) | 2011-10-11 07:25:00 Author: L1GhTmArE Posts: 519 |
Rarely. I like palying with people online, but don't really make a habit of it. I probably should more, but, meh. | 2011-10-11 08:16:00 Author: kirbyman62 Posts: 1893 |
The last person I let join, against better judgment and not really seeing them around on forums was a very young kid. He was super excited that I accepted his invite. Which is a good community thing and I basically wanted to say 'hi' and thank him for being so enthusiastic about my work, it was pretty late and I offered to quickly show him something I was working on in play mode... he proceeded to try and get me to load into edit mode. I jumped into a blank stage and started to ask me to give him all of my creations in some sort of trade and kept pulling out LBP1 style community objects saying 'take it!' When I declined, he started to get really insistent, begging for something off of me, and then when I said 'patience...' because I plan to share my creations when ready he still tried to trade. It was getting late and I said I needed to sign of and he got really upset but ask me to pose in a photo which I did, he then he pulled out a Nazi flag sticker... So... no... probably the last one, and I am not a well known creator. It surprises me that Centurion still accepts invites. Any invites I get I will search LBP.me and the forums before accepting now. | 2011-10-11 08:27:00 Author: Mr_Fusion Posts: 1799 |
I rarely work on something, and when I do, only the cloooooooooosest friends see it when it's almost published. But that's my character anyway. | 2011-10-11 09:28:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
I'm so unknown around here that probably almost all of invites/join requests I have got were from either 1) PSN friends, or 2) people using Dive In (or so I believe ). I tend to be far more finicky accepting invites than joins. Especially if you wind up being unlucky, and try to join/invite me when I'm working at a personal project. Surprisingly, I've never had any problems with stealers or griefers. I often first "test the waters" with a relatively worthless item (looks impressive, but actually is very simple/quick when you think of it), and if they forcefully capture it, I know that I should be careful. | 2011-10-12 15:03:00 Author: OrwellianStuff Posts: 90 |
Most of the time I join them, just for the heck of it when I'm bored. Almost every time they don't even want anything from me, they just invite me for the heck of it. | 2011-10-12 15:46:00 Author: lemurboy12 Posts: 842 |
I let someone join the other day and they landed in my pod and said, "Go to create". Not sure why, I always seem to get the people that want to show me every community object they've ever collected, or ever vehicle they've ever made. | 2011-10-12 16:16:00 Author: CYMBOL Posts: 1230 |
Once I accepted a random join request and this person is just floating in create mode with me for like a min then with no warning, starts deleting everything in sight, luckily I'm cautious enough to save before someone joins as a force of habit, I immediately kicked them and had to catch me breath as they really surprised me, although I don't blame them, the name had lots of x's which should have set off the warning signal aside from that I think the invite function works fine, but because it's been abused so much, it doesn't do justice to what it was intended for. I've used it to get in touch with creators who aren't friends of mine, it served its purpose there, but I hate that some of the community uses it for devious purposes.... | 2011-10-12 16:45:00 Author: damaz10 Posts: 771 |
I got an invite today and having read this thread I decided, why not? *A wild emo has appeared* Hesitant at first we played a level then just left after one level. Where is the point in that? | 2011-10-12 20:06:00 Author: craigmond Posts: 2426 |
I usually don't accept them. I'm not being antisocial, I just don't want to irritate others because I'm slower and not as good as they are. Now if it's someone I know and they are ok with me being less experienced then I do accept. | 2011-10-12 20:28:00 Author: Lady_Luck__777 Posts: 3458 |
I seem to wind up joining noobish players (ones who want to trade objects/costumes/DLC/whatever, "emos", bf/gf seekers, chatters, bomb/shark survival addicts etc.) from Dive in and not from LittleBigInvites. I usually just accept invites when i turn on my PS3, so it starts up LBP. But Almost all of my invites never go through, whether its time zones or connection problems, and I'm usually hesitant on joining players that send more than 1 invite at the same time, since those are usually the noobs. The ones that do go through the players are usually nice and sometimes ask for help with some of their logic. Several times i wound up blocking players because they spam with over 20+ a minute (once when i left a few comments on some levels, i went to grab a quick bite while leaving LBP2 on, then when coming back i find 30+ and counting from some noob.) And half of these spams aren't the "OMG Give me the crown, you don't deserve it and I'm ten times better with my stuff", These are crazy hardcore Sonic fans, I like Sonic a lot, but these guys make it creepy with their "Sonic and Amy go on a date while punching Eggman/Robotnik in Sonic 06 movie level" | 2011-10-12 23:28:00 Author: JKthree Posts: 1125 |
At first, I thought that I was very unknown and expected very little invites if not, none. Boy was I wrong. I usually get a couple random invites everyday, and they're usually different people (hopefully). I NEVER accept an invite that has the default message of "Come play LBP2 with me! It's really fun!" or something like that. That's usually the sign of a n00b (decided to play safe). The only time I accept any invites are when the player actually took time to write their own message, even if it's something really short like "need friends. can you play with me?" I'm always worried that they'll steal an object that's special to me if I accept any invites. With all of the new technology and the new "categories" of people, you'll never know who you'll meet. It makes me so paranoid.... I also check to see if they're a user on LBPC or any other major fansites. If I do find them on a fansite, I always check their profile and "research" them for anything that looks suspicious (i.e. hacking, any BAD mentioning of sexual stuff, etc.) I can always trust users on LBPC an other major fansites (if there were users with a bad reputation for a good reason, wouldn't they already have been banned or at least suspended?). It's SOOOOOOOO nice to know that you can trust some people in this world. | 2011-10-13 01:15:00 Author: FEAR Posts: 337 |
I myself use to accept because you know never when if you come to a great player. Though in a dive in by a random guy, it was no other than Lordmagicpants. But in LBP have I meet my friends I have today by dive in or my friends friend. But it mostly a chance in 80% to get a noob but playing with 5 years old is boring. | 2011-10-13 07:49:00 Author: Seveni_7 Posts: 109 |
I rarely get them and rarely accept them, but if I didn't I would not have met this extraordinary creator (http://lbp.me/u/Donor). | 2011-10-13 15:26:00 Author: Antikris Posts: 1340 |
Since I rarely get them, I'll accept them... But it usually one of those COSTUM RUUMZ kind of person... Why me? Go away unless I have met you or you have something important to share to the world... Not trying to be mean... But still... They just ask me questions that have nothing to do with anything. They jump topics, and they steal my stuff... | 2011-10-14 06:20:00 Author: Speedynutty68 Posts: 1614 |
Sometimes, for sheets and giggles. However, I usually always take off my costume and NEVER pull out any objects, since 49% of the time it's a noob, and 50% of the time, it's an emo kid. | 2011-10-14 12:15:00 Author: Rather Tasty Posts: 57 |
I'm at a place right now where I have little motivation to create anything. I turn on lbp and just zone out and do nothing. So if a player wants me to join them and we sit there for a half hour Showing off costumes.. So be it. I miss Jaeyden | 2011-10-15 03:38:00 Author: CENTURION24 Posts: 266 |
Yep. I get them all the time. I don't know why. I guess I'm that handsome. Once, when I declined a person's invite (like I do all the time), he sent me messages begging me to invite him. Flattering, I think. I actually think they just use dive in to get "Dive in 25". I still don't have that >.> | 2011-10-15 10:56:00 Author: Sackpapoi Posts: 1195 |
