i'm trying to make a puppet for animating. is there any way that i can use a bolt and then move a segment of the animation without moving the entire thing? the bolt only seems to move in play mode. i can't grab the section even with the MOVE. | 2011-10-09 18:37:00 Author: GribbleGrunger Posts: 3910 |
Okay so I think we all need a bit more detail to help you with this such what type of animation are you looking to do with it? I.e in a game or movie, what is the animation looking to do. Also is it a what type of bolt is it; is it a normal bolt or a motor and is there any logic hooked up to this. Also you say you are using the move so exactly what have you done with the move kit bits to enable use with the move. | 2011-10-09 22:07:00 Author: Megafig Posts: 52 |

Maybe don't use bolts then? You could get around this by using followers - so, for example, each leg has a follower at the top of the limb, and they follow the body very quickly. This would give the same impression - if it makes sense? Have you considered using motor bolts too? | 2011-10-10 01:12:00 Author: standby250 Posts: 1113 |

Use motor bolts to move the arms or legs in the desired direction, then pause and take a pic. That should work. I doubt MM has any plans to fix this. They still haven't fixed issues that have been around since it began. | 2011-10-10 19:01:00 Author: CYMBOL Posts: 1230 |
Why can't you disconnect the parts position them in a position you want then take a pic? If you actually need the model to move for a level then motor bolts are the answer it will be fiddly and take a while to get them to move in the direction you want but it seems one of the easiest ways really. I used this method for my Pinocchio model i have made and it works fine. You may want to add gyroscopes to the body and any parts that you don't want to wiggle around into strange positions though. You will also have to add gravity changer to the model and make it at maybe 10 on the second option down. That's what i did anyway only my model is made of stickers so that there is no collision to worry about. Oh btw if you do use regular bolts for things that you want to move then its a good idea to make the strength 10 or 20 as 100 strength seems to prevent movement. | 2011-10-10 19:14:00 Author: Lordwarblade Posts: 761 |

There's always the old LBP1 trick of using a Sprung Bolt to compensate for the lack of an "Angle Snap" option - in this case, you could just adjust the Sprung Bolt angle by one degree at a time. | 2011-10-11 17:06:00 Author: Aya042 Posts: 2870 |
