3D Rendering

Archive: 6 posts

So in a new series I'm making (Yes! That's right! ANOTHER! When am I ever going to finish one? I don't know... ) and I was hoping to make a 3D room... So I got a quickly made cardboard room situated pretty much how I want my final product to be when I start putting desks into the front layers... This is probably going to be the part that everybody says: There's no fix to that.

Well, the desks don't render. Example:

Above- This is how it's supposed to look... (Without the hidden walls of course...)
Below-And thanks to my luck, this is of course how it turns out...

It's also the same with the lights that you can see... They don't render... I have tried making the desks out of decorations and that doesn't work. I have tried to make the desk in the 3D layer in the first place and that didn't work. I have emitted into the layer I need. That doesn't work. I'm thinking that it's just broken and I'm going to have to deal with it...

Any help, advice, or a stern 'Speedy stop trying to do the impossible' would be nice.

are they being destroyed? or are they still there but just invisible? if it's the former then make sure you have them either glued to dark or white matter, or have a 100% dampening gravity tweaker on them or on something they are glued to.
if they are still there and just not visible i'm not sure how to fix, but i have encountered it b4 when emitting spikes into the foreground

easy peasy. ok, instead of having the 3d stretch all across, you have to have the 3 playable layers, the foreground and background. once you have that, you have to ghost the 3d layers, because that basically removes the materials physics and removes thermo, and might make it render. and, when you ghost dont move corner editor over the object that was ghosted or it will freeze2011-10-09 13:47:00

If you're using an anti-gravity tweaker instead of Light or Dark matter, you also need a material tweaker set to Indestructible.
There are some troubleshooting tips in this 3D layer wiki http://wiki.lbpcentral.com/Community:Tutorials/Working_with_Extra_Layers_aka_3D_Glitch
If you're really stuck with this, I might be able to help. I'm not online a whole lot, but if you send me a pm we could find a time to meet up.
@SaticLinuxPro - is ghosting the same as the "walk through walls" glitch? https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=48030-Walk-Thru-Walls-Glitch-Rediscovered! It is very handy, but also limiting. Once you do this, you cannot move or even delete the object.

Something I found, is that anything you put in the foreground area seems to have bits of it disappear, unless it covers two layers or more. If the object only covers one layer, or the thin layer, then it won't render correctly.

Sorry about that!

Maybe consider putting them in the background layers instead? As far as I know, they usually work pretty fine.

I was thinking about doing that... I haven't ever really messed with the 3D glitch so I'm still learning... I'll try out the multi-layer thing for later stuff. Thanks!

They're still there. They just disappear. It's really annoying.

Thanks for the help everybody!
