Building A Gaming Computer

EDIT: Nevermind. Long story short, I had to pick new parts. I spent a dozen or so hours making sure they'd work, so this thread is kind of useless now.2011-10-08 08:09:00

Looks good to me - though I'm in a rush so I haven't had a proper look. You managed to avoid the easy mistake of not getting a powerful enough PSU though 2011-10-08 11:45:00

Offhand that looks pretty good, though I didn't check the memory to motherboard compatibility. During order you might ask them to confirm as Newegg is really nice about that. I don't see that Newegg handles them, but you also might look at Ultra as a PSU, as it would give you a bit more power in case of additions down the road. However as Alec said, 850w should be fine for this rig as is.

Only reason is mention it is I really like Ultra's connect what you need modular system over some of the others out there. Makes it handy for easy routing of power cables as well as matching up connector types. ..though a bit more $$ than the Corsair.

..but again the Corsair should be fine.

One other suggestion, I would go and see if you can find the mouse locally and insure in fits in your hand comfortably before purchasing. Some of them I have found to be really wacky and depending on how long your fingers are, just are hard to manage, especially during rapid fire gaming.

Good luck!

I've decided to go with this motherboard instead:

Wow.. I had not looked into an ASRock MB before, but I will keep them in mind next time around. That is a pretty nice MB for the money!

Good job!

Check this site out: http://www.hardware-revolution.com/

For the cash you have, I would use this link:

http://www.hardware-revolution.com/mainstream-gaming-pc-august-2011/

This guy is constantly updating his builds, and even though this build is from August, I always trust that there's going to be another one right around the corner.

If you want to hit the $1500 mark on the head, try the lowest build here:

http://www.hardware-revolution.com/high-end-gaming-pc-august-2011-v250/

The builds there were designed to handle graphics at max visuals on two or three monitors, or even in 3D.

That's actually a pretty nice build. I haven't kept up to date with things in the last year (though I may buy myself a modular PSU in the coming days) but from what I've been reading that's a tidy choice. Also great choice on the CPU, massive overclocking abilities.
Personally I'd save more for an even higher grade GPU, but that's only because I'm patient and tend to save for the top stuff at the time when I'm buying (within reason, I never go for the dual GPU's on one like the 6990. Way too overpriced. Say in your case I would of gone for the gtx 570, however that's double your price and you won't get double performance so prob not worth it!)
