My PS3 is DED.

Archive: 11 posts

I said I'd return to this forum.

ONLY WITH PS3 problems!

Once my PS3 froze on LBP2: But no buttons would respond except the one we all dread: The main power switch in the back.
Not even the touch sensor on the front works.

So I HAD NO choice. I engage the switch, cut all power.

I then turn the switch back to it's proper state, turn on the PS3, everything normal; I WISH.

I go to play LBP2 to see the progress lost, but for hours on end it wouldn't load on the XMB. I go to restart the PS3 with the normal controls, But it won't turn off.

After holding the touch sensor for a minute or so, it turns off, so I turn it back on AGAIN, this same process repeats: for 5 times.

ONE LAST TIME, I turn it, on, but to see the message that my system is corrupt. NOW IT TELLS ME.

"The ps3 will restore itself," stated the message and I got the sinking feeling all my objects were lost, all my modnation stuff, even other accounts. MAYBE THE STUFF I payed for!

After a long grueling minute of the restoration, the PS3 repeats the restoring, over, and over, and over.

I trust all of you are full of knowledge for technology, so you can aid a person who quickly loses interest of the PS3. A "Forever Alone" Wii might get played for once.

ARGH, WHAT DO I DO NOW???

What Rabid said.
Also, it depends on what kind of restoration your PS3 is trying to perform.
If the problem is in the system file, your PS3 will try to fix ONLY the system file, without overwriting everything/formatting your data.

My suggestion is take a new 3,5 HDD SATA and plug it in your PS3 and try to reboot the system from scratch.
If the PS3 reboots correctly, then the problem is in your data, if it doesn't reboot the problem is in the hardware.

Two things:

Can you at least turn it on?

Do you have a backup file?

Because people treated me the way you just did. Oh, the irony!

Yes I can turn it on, back up file, gah, whens the least time I backed up my system file? Plus all the stupid thing wants to do know is "Restore itself" over, and over.

I say you try what he said.

If you do try a new hard drive the PS3 uses the 2.5" ones not the 3.5" that has previously been mentioned.2011-10-11 08:50:00
