I finally managed to complete this level. I started creating it about 7 month ago, but for a while I was too busy to spend any time in LBP. This time I focused more on visuals and sound, so don't go in this expecting revolutionary gameplay.
Be warned that in some sections there is only a little light and switches can be hard to see if your TV is too dark. If that's the case please turn up the brightness.

PS: I'm fully aware that the wallgrab jump can be a bit frustrating. Once you get it though it works wonderfully. Most of the time...
PPS: Do play this on your own! Lag can make some section almost impossible!

Fixed a few things based on comments and reviews I got. Switches are now easier to see, the wall grab jump bit in the great hall should be a little bit easier and you can't lock yourself out anymore. Still chasing after a few places where people can die.

Also, though this isn't a F4F thread I will try to play your levels if you ask nicely.

Wow didn't know it was up on the level showcase, thought I'd do a search for it since I played your level a while ago. It's very well designed and the scenery, stickers and building are all beautiful. Visually it looks great. The only problem I had was with the controls for rebounding off ledges and walls. It seemed a bit to slippery and tricky for me. Eventually I gave up, but I'll be back to give it another go.

Maybe the controls could be tightened up? Maybe I just hadn't got used tot he new controls?

I also thought the start of the level was quite unique. I was actually standing there thinking what am I suppose to do. Then when I tried it out I thought mmm I hope this is what I'm suppose to do and I'm not going to break it. Only to find out that's exactly what I had to do to get out. Genius.

Since I'm coming back to play it again you're definitely doing something right

Woo, feedback! o/

Yes, the controls do take some getting used to (and they probably could do with some tightening up). I think what I should have done is let the players practice it more before he gets to the climbing bit in the hall. Once you get past that you never have to use it again - unless you want to find all the prize bubbles.
There are a few things in the level that would have been easier for players if I had allowed myself to put power-ups into the level, but it was my aim to make a (more or less) realistic level that looks good. I find most power-ups visually to intrusive and noisy.

I'm glad you enjoyed it enough to give it another try and cared enough to leave some feedback.

No problem, I'm surprised it's been 2 weeks since you posted this. Although I know this isn't a F4F post, but I still reply to few that aren't up for F4F. You can always check mine out if you're bored and feel like doing so. I think this level was mentioned in one of the recent community spotlights.

UPDATE: Just checked and it is indeed mentioned in the Community Spotlight Episode 70 (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=64429-Community-Spotlight-Episode-70)

Already queued yours.

The only reason why I don't label my thread F4F is that I may not get around to playing levels. I still try to play the levels of anyone who left me some feedback and give them some feedback in return.

I spotted your shameless plug in the sticker panel thread, and I have an arabian themed level in the works myself, so I had a look at this. You have some clever decoration tricks there, looks really good! I wonder why I never thought of canopies (luifels?), they really fit the theme.

I commend your resolution not to use power-ups. They wouldn't fit the level, the sackbot with extra jump moves is much more thematic. However, with leaving out point bubbles IMHO you're taking it too far. I kinda missed getting a little reward for finally making those trickier jumps.

Like I mentioned in the game, I got distracted and missed the hint on climbing the wall, but even when I found out I could jump further by pointing the analogue stick outward it took me a while to actually do what I knew I was supposed to do. I would walk off a platform without jumping, for instance. Could it be there's some accidental latency in the jump logic? If you could smooth out the controls, and maybe add some points, it would be perfect (for a platformer ).

Thank you for the feedback, Rogar.

Yes, point bubbles... I don't know why, but I really don't like them. I see their worth and agree that they could enhance the level, but yeah...
I initially wanted to include some collectibles, but the thermometer is already too close to overheating.

There shouldn't be any latency to normal jumps since I haven't changed anything about it. But the gravity is slightly higher and the movement speed of the Sackbot is slightly faster.
I don't doubt the logic for jumping off a ledge (instead of pulling yourself up) could be improved. I'll look into that.

Ah yes, it's probably the higher speed that made my timing off then.2011-10-22 15:09:00

A well designed and very beautiful level. It might be a little bit frustrating especially for beginners. Actually i did not finished it yet. However: everyboda should try it out - you will really get an orientically feeling :-)

Thanks, avundcv.

I really should get around to tightening up the logic...

Edit:

This should work better now. The help system is also less intrusive!
