Syndicate

A game getting lots of hate from hipsters who don't like the route it's gone. Personally, I don't care, cause it looks so dang fun. If any of you have played EYE: Divine Cybermancy, you may see some similarities. Yeah, there's Deus Ex, but both Syndicate and EYE have more emphasis on shooting.

Also, they did a great job on the trailer, and the toned down dubstep of Skrillex is extremely fitting.

Even though it only just got announced, it's supposed to be coming out in March, 2012.

Didn't know I was a hipster - in fact - no, I'm definately NOT a hipster.
I'm one of those guys that played Syndicate the first time around - I remember the impact it had, back in the day it was one of the top AAA titles.

I've also been one of those guys that has been saying for nearly 2 decades that it was a prime candidate for a remake.

And now here we are;
However,
This trailer is nothing like that game - the emphasis with the old game was on squad command; there was a lot of fetch quest involving shooting - but what was more important was how you built up your squad (similar to Deus EXs augmentations)... it wasn't all about shooting - there are already enough FPS's on the market.

Looks like a cash in to me - why do they do this?
Why aquire the rights for a classic game - and then throw the baby out with the bathwater as you completely remake it into something totally different?!
Just call it something different and create a new IP - instead of defecating on the memory of a classic

What I ask myself is why an FPS at all costs and not a TPS that would have fitted the theme better.
Anyhow, I judge games for what they are, not for the brand they have on, so if it's good, who cares

If it's good then great - a continuation of the Syndicate series is long over-due;
If it's in a completely different direction, then hang on - why tag it with the "Syndicate" brand when it only bears a passing resemblance?

And if it's just another Unreal 3 FPS - then why bother at all?

I always assumed that a Syndicate remake would be basically Grand Theft Auto: BladeRunner.
Colour me disappointed

I liked the trailer and this new walkthrough has me excited. The style reminds of this years masterful Deus Ex: HR except DX was more an RPG with shooter trimmings (and some TPS gameplay) where this is definitely an FPS with RPG trimmings. The breaching concept is cool, opens up a lot of gameplay options. Along with Bioshock Infinite/The Darkness 2 this is now one of my most anticipated FPS' of 2012.

Dust 514 is my top tip for 2012 fps

*whispers* console gamers don't play MMO's (does look interesting though)

One thing I love in FPS' is when guns have an alt fire mode so I am happy to hear Syndicate will make use of that. After getting the plat trophy for Deus Ex I thought it would be a while before I was crawling through vents again, guess I was wrong
