Reply with Quote Not Working?

Archive: 11 posts

Just wanted to put this out there. Does anyone else notice that on IE8 (Internet Explore 8) reply with quote doesn't ever load? I know it is not my PC due to it works on other forums.2011-09-29 01:16:00

I haven't used IE for quite a while now, but when I did I think the trick was to click it again. And you'd be taken to the advanced edit page. At least, that's what worked for me.2011-09-29 01:58:00

Hm, I use Google Chrome, it should load it.
It's an awesome browser. You should try that. Hope it works!

I also use Google Chrome, and it works fine. However, I've noticed that if you use the multi-quote feature it seems to "remember" the quotes indefinitely. I've multi-quoted in the thread, then hit reply to a completely different thread, and it still quotes the same things I multi-quoted earlier. It's weird.2011-09-29 04:39:00

@ xero It should clear them when you submit the post.

Haven't really had an issue on my iPhone/iPad or Safari on my Mac. Sometimes the edit button does that spinning thing you mention but only for a few seconds.

You're right, it should. But it doesn't.

It'll be some incompatibility between the rather poor JavaScript used in this version of vBulletin, and IE8's rather poor implementation of JavaScript, neither of which I can really fix.

Seems to work fine in IE9, so upgrading is always an option, but the simplest solution is just to hold the CTRL key when you click on the link, then it bypasses the script, and instead opens the advanced edit page in a new tab, which is 100 times more useful IMO.
