Well the nominations for the 2012 Rock n Roll Hall of Fame inductees came out today. Drum roll please. And the Nominees are: Beastie Boys The Cure Donovan Eric B. & Rakim Guns 'N Roses Heart Joan Jett and The Blackhearts Freddie King Laura Nyro Red Hot Chili Peppers Rufus with Chaka Khan The Small Faces/The Faces The Spinners Donna Summer War Here are my picks. The Cure, G-n-R, Heart, Joan Jett and RHCP. I'm confused with some of the nominees, as they are not "Rock n Roll" artists. Why are hip hop and folk singers nominated to the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame? If it was the "Music" Hall of Fame, then yeah, I'd agree. Anyway, your thoughts? Discuss.

Erik B. & Rakim!? Really!? I mean, I think they're amazing, but I find it a little puzzling as to why they'd be included in a "Rock n Roll" hall of fame? But good for them, I guess.

Really confused by that list, Donna Summer, Chaka Khan, The Spinners.... rock & roll... Seriously? There are people in that list who haven't made a record in 30 years. (not saying that they don't deserve it ) cheers, misty

Guns N' Roses don't deserve it, purely beacuse Axl has ruined them. Before Slash & co left, they deserved it more than most. Now, they suck.

Guns N' Roses do deserve it for what they did for Rock N Roll. I mean, look at Appetite for Destruction and the Use Your Illusion LPs. They deserve it just for those. Now I agree that they were great before with slash, dizzy, duff, matt and even Steven Adler but don't be so quick to toss Chinese Democracy. It's a descent album and Axl still performs well live.

wait, wait, wait, hold on. Guns N' Roses do deserve it for what they did for Rock N Roll. I mean, look at Appetite for Destruction and the Use Your Illusion LPs. They deserve it just for those. Now I agree that they were great before with slash, dizzy, duff, matt and even Steven Adler but don't be so quick to toss Chinese Democracy. It's a descent album and Axl still performs well live. He doesn't turn up most of the time, and when he does he leaves early because his drink is too cold (or something stupid, it wouldn't surprise me with him). Chinese democracy is terrible.

There've been inductees that weren't strictly rock/rock & roll for years; Quite a few surprises! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Rock_and_Roll_Hall_of_Fame_inductees) Out of this years list, I'd go for Donovan, RHCP, Guns N Roses and The Faces

Isn't the 'Rock n Roll' just a nostalgic nod rather than literal one? Guns 'n' Roses, The Beastie Boys and Donna Summer I would guess.
