Why can't we use the photos of self-produced objects in PAINT?

Archive: 10 posts

I sadly realized that we can't transfer the photos we take (the in-game photos, not the photos shot with ps3 camera) to Paint. Me and my brother made many retro-sprites with the neon material and took their pictures to use them in animations (you know, the photos under the category of 'My Pictures&apos. I tried to transfer those photos to Paint and produce perfect stickers out of them but, to my dismay, realized that all the pictures under the category "My pictures" (!) are absent in the list of Paint (I mean, the choose-brush-section of "Paint"). If we could be able to make stickers out of "the photos of self-made objects" and transfer them to paint, that would help a lot in producing stickers out of them and making animations using the newly introduced sticker panel material. But what I see is, that is impossible...

P.S. I see that MM offered the advantage of using all objects, decorations and stickers provided by them in Paint, however, not being able to use the photos of our self-made objects in Paint is a great restrictment. I hope we can use the pictures under the 'My pictures' category with an upcoming patch...

If they allowed that then the stickers from DLC would easily be able to get passed around, very unlikely they'll remove the restriction.2011-09-27 13:48:00

I learned from getsatisfaction.com that they have done it on purpose. However, I have no intention of making pictures out of stickers, I just want to use the photos of my self-made objects in PAINT. Moreover, they can easily find a by-pass by preventing the use of dlc stickers in paint (just as they prevent the use of any stickers that are moderated).2011-09-28 17:13:00

They do disallow use of DLC stickers in paint as far as I'm aware, however there's nothing to stop someone pasting a DLC sticker in a level, taking a snapshot of it, importing it into paint, cropping a little and saving as a new sticker. There's no way the game could really keep track of the image containing a DLC sticker, and as such clones could easily be made and passed around for free. =/2011-09-28 22:19:00

I couldn't agree more with the OP! What exactly is the point of the irk-some move paint and particularly 'My Paintings'?
As interfaces go, it's okay... but...

So I now have this great painting that I want to use in my level and....

Why did I waste my time? I've been dying since day 1 of LBP to make nice custom stickers in game and I am still at a loss of how to accomplish this three years later. Promise unfulfilled. Perhaps I'm just missing something... but the Eyetoy will never be the answer.:hrmf:

We MUST BE ABLE TO transfer our self-made objects to Paint. Does MM want to fill LBP 2 with stick figures? Only the masters of the airbrush can produce decent pictures with the lame tool called 'Paint' (it lacks layers, lines, fill-in function, copy and paste and many other features needed for a simple drawing-tool). Object-to-Paint transfer is a MUST for LBP 2. Not many of the LBP 2 users out there are Rembrandts or Goyas... DLC stickers may not be used in Paint, which is not a great loss, but objects, yeah, they HAVE TO be used in Paint...
MM should better consider this as a problem because it is a MEGA LET-DOWN. After the on-purpose decision to not include user-made objects in Paint, I definitely decided to buy no new dlcs at all. Just for the sake of money, they hinder great possibilities that come with using our own objects in Paint. Who cares about dlc stickers? All I ever wanted from the Paint tool was to integrate my self-made objects into it to make retro games and such (with the help of the new sticker panel material). In the meantime, I don't like any stickers offered by MM and I prefer to produce those of my own by using my self-made objects. If they did not allow to work on stickers but on user-made objects in Paint, that would be a billion times better...
In addition, MM could have easily prohibited the use of dlc stickers. When we receive any object, of which we don't own the pack, we simply can't use it. The same thing should be valid for dlc stickers (stickers bought, I mean. Money, money, money... It hinders creativity, as in this example). Being unable to produce stickers out of our objects is NONSENSE, at best...
Finally, dlc sitckers=waste of money (Who cares about them? I could produce much more useful stickers if user-made objects could be transferred to paint)

dlc stickers=waste of money, being able to transfer user made objects to paint=priceless

Once again...

>Take a photo of what you want a sticker of.
>Export to HDD.
>Put it on the computer.
>Take a picture of it on the computer.
