The Vacuuminator

Well, Here is my (moderate) entry for LBPC4. It entrails a power-up, the Vacuuminator, and involves some short puzzles and best of all... A BOSS FIGHT! It is the first level I actually tried on, if you look at my levels from lbp1 or the only other LBP2 level I have, well they pretty much suck. Anyway, I made this feedback for feedback, so I'll do that!

This is one of the better levels I've played recently, despite the small things which bring down the quality ever so slightly.

+ I loved the basic design principles in play. You had one mechanic and reused in a load of interesting ways.

+ Jumping over the chasm and throwing the junk block at the switch before you got electrocuted was just a phenomenal feeling. Such a tiny aspect was so fun.

+ The look of the level was very clean and crisp.

+ The sound the hat made was, weirdly, very supplemental to the effect of the vaccuminator

- As mentioned by you, it was very short. I would reccomend cutting out any "fat" to make room for nice tender puzzles (was that metaphor too weird? Probably) Perhaps lose the story and go the Portal route. Just puzzles that slowly ramp up the difficulty and continually challenge the played in interesting ways.

-Although the materials used were crisp and clean. They were also lacking in interesting structure. I would reccomend better use of all three layers to provide more variety and using the corner editor to make the path a little more interesting to trek across.

- The boss fight at the end felt a little tacked on and alot unfun. It was apparent from the get-go what i had to do, i just needed to wait 5 minutes to do it 4 times. you should have constant variety and surprise in fights.

- It was sometimes unclear of where to go next. I would reccomend simply using more lights to guide the player.

Overall, good start though.
