Stop this from happening?

Archive: 16 posts

I'm sure I'm not the only one who's come across this:

In case it's not clear what's going on from the screenshot, if that little festive sackboy walks any further to the right, he'll somehow manage to crush himself in between those two acute angled surfaces.

I've actually managed to crush myself between two unmoving objects like this several times while playing random community levels and it can be quite frustrating when it happens.

That alway happens when I try to glue two objects, it fails and when I walk into it, I crush myself.

The two wedges are attached and completely stationary, yet you still somehow get crushed between them if you move further right.

It's supposed to happen...
It makes no sense whatsoever.

its pretty much another form of the "smooshing" death, just at an angle, and instead of a blobk moving to smoosh you, your moving into the block and getting smooshed2008-12-23 20:33:00

Well getting smooshed is fine, but smooshing yourself?

I don't think I've ever heard of anyone committing suicide by walking into the corner of a wedge-shaped room.

That's because the suicidal people of the world are more creative than that.2008-12-23 20:44:00

... *tries not to make joke of this*

>_<

Anyway, that is annoying sometimes- maybe they could somehow make it so you cannot go any further... but then again, the exact distance between two objects and how they are about to crush something is sometimes important, i.e. the Bunker level where you have to jump on the platforms that aren't about to be crushed.

Lol! Well to prevent this from happening in a level youare creating, use invisible dark matter. You can get some in my SackBoy Purgatory level as a completion gift, or you can make it yourself by using the corner edit tool and making a slim dark matter rectangle even slimmer. Just paste it right before the smooshing-corner-of-self-inflicting-death and no-one will die there anymore

I would just avoid it from now on to end the problem. the physics in the game are hard wired so to speak and would require a lot of work to fix this problem.(or at least i am relatively sure that it would based on my experience.)2008-12-24 06:05:00

Well, Sackboy does crouch when in a small place, and there is design usage for having a small area for him to squeeze through. If they make it so he won't go into a small area, it may potentially break a lot of levels.

But yeah, it's annoying, accidental crush deaths.
