Just wondering - LBP2 and voice communication
Archive: 12 posts
I always have a bad experience when people tries to communicate with me via mic. The audio signal on LBP2 is totally bad. I had experiences on other PSN games and never encountered such problems The voice signal in LBP is totally buzzed for me and it seems I'm listening to a broken police radio. Al...buzzt... cal...buzzt......buzzt...vo, there's an ...buzzt...ent in ...buzzt...aven...buzzt... I can't really understand a crap, always with my Italian friends, so it's really worse with English people, when you can't figure out what people is saying, because guessing a foreign language is hard, and I feel totally bad for it, because I know I ruin their experience too. It was bad in LBP1 but really worse in LBP2...it seems like the audio is captured with really low sampling size. Please I want to know if I'm the only one having issues or not. Does it happen for you often, all the times, never? As far as my experience MM should rework the protocol. | 2011-09-25 08:03:00 Author: OmegaSlayer ![]() Posts: 5112 |
Let me say the experience was not ruined for me. ![]() But yes, I have issues with the mic also...and quite often. It snaps, crackles and pops, which makes me think I'm eating a bowl of cereal ![]() Although, it does tend to be worse when playing with my awesome international friends ![]() | 2011-09-25 08:46:00 Author: RickRock_777 ![]() Posts: 1567 |
Since LBP1. I''ve always just kept mic off, the static is way too annoying and I cant understand a thing anyone says, in any language. Mm really needs to fix it. | 2011-09-25 08:50:00 Author: JamesDNaux ![]() Posts: 757 |

As I said it happens even with Italian sackboys...so I don't think it's only about lag, but bad coding. | 2011-09-25 09:12:00 Author: OmegaSlayer ![]() Posts: 5112 |
I have the problem with almost all games to be honest. The only times I had a clear signal was when I was playing Burnout Paradise with two "friends" who live in Greece and Egypt. I never got a perfectly clear signal in LBP if I remember correctly. I rarely play with headset or with people who use a headset though. Gestures and text all the way. ![]() But I generally have trouble understanding people over headset. Or on the phone for that matter. Videophones should be standard by now. ![]() | 2011-09-25 09:27:00 Author: Syroc ![]() Posts: 3193 |
I played with people with a mic twice in LBP2, and it worked out fine. It's probably the other person's internet connection and mic quality screwing with you. | 2011-09-25 09:48:00 Author: SnipySev ![]() Posts: 2452 |

Never really had any issues with the net connection; more like mic quality (PS Eye microphone is *horrible*; nearly every time someone has a bad mic, it turns out that it is a camera). I'm not above that issue either; the mic in my headset is extremely sensitive, and can easily cut high parts if you put it too close to your mouth (it can happen without you even noticing until others complain). I'd say that the issue of incomprehensible communication is much more of a problem than a mic (some simply seem not to understand anything you say to them, either over a mic OR a keyboard; it can be real annoying, especially with 3 other slightly unruly players in a level ![]() | 2011-10-03 19:10:00 Author: OrwellianStuff ![]() Posts: 90 |
In my experience, I can use a mic if I'm on with just one other, but the quality is very low.:/ Now, take and throw in one or two more players and you might as well forget it. I get really bad echo, and it sounds like the whole **** thing is haunted or something. We get sounds that seem to come from nowhere!?!?!? Usually, we just stick with keyboards, but i really wish the mics worked good........ | 2011-10-03 19:43:00 Author: smasher ![]() Posts: 641 |
I remember playing with a random trying to 100% LBP1 and when he first spoke, it was as clear as if he was standing right behind me, I'll be honest, I jumped a little. xD But with LBP2 , I have noticed that the quality's gone down, the few times I've created with people using mics. :/ | 2011-10-03 20:59:00 Author: abyssalassassin ![]() Posts: 717 |

I always have to turn off the in-game music player in order to hear people with mics. | 2011-10-04 07:05:00 Author: midnight_heist ![]() Posts: 2513 |
