How to complete the 2 player sections in the Move Pack with only one Move Controller!

Archive: 3 posts

I don't know if this is really obvious or not, but I when playing last night I was messing around and found out a way to do the 2 player sections in the story levels of the Move Pack on my own despite the fact I only have one Move controller. So I thought I'd share, as the amount of people who are playing the Move levels is often less than 10 per level meaning finding an online companion could be tricky. And in the future that will dwindle even more.

Note you need 2 Dualshocks to do this (or Navigation controllers).

When you come to a 2 player section, turn on your second DS to spawn another sackboy, to which you're prompted by a message that the level may not be possible without a Move, or something to that effect. The way the two player sections work is that one player uses the brain crane to move the other player over obstacles, and then the favour is returned. This means that you never need to have two Moves being used simultaneously, which is where I got thinking, maybe swapping the Move controller between each player when it's needed would allow me to get the prize bubbles from these sections. And it worked, although there's a knack to it as simply reassigning the controller's number doesn't allow you to choose which player uses it. So this is what you must do (or at least what I found works).

When P1 has the Move assigned to them, turn off the Move controller by holding the PS button, then turn it back on and after calibrating it will be assigned to P2. I guess it must assign itself to the highest numbered player.

When P2 has the Move assigned to them, turn off the Move as above, then also turn off P2's DS controller. Before the game has a chance to pop P2's Sackboy, turn the Move back on. Before calibrating the Move, turn on P2's DS then when you calibrate, the Move will be back assigned to P1. Rinse and repeat.

Like I say, this may be pretty obvious, but hopefully it will be useful to at least someone.

Here's how I swapped them, having just one DS handy along with the move motion and nav controllers (going from memory; I'm not by my system now):

1. Start another player with the DS
2. Press the PS button on the DS to see what controller number it is, then again to return to the game
3. Hold the PS button on the navigation controller, and reassign it to the controller number of the DS

Step 3 causes the game to complain because it's unplayable with only half a controller, and the game walks you through reassigning the motion controller to the other player.

Repeat as needed to swap back and forth.
