Switch Sackbots Without Switching Controlinators
Archive: 8 posts
Basically what I want to do is have a level with two sackbots that the player controls. The player starts in a controlinator remote controlling the first sackbot. However, I need a way to only control one sackbot at a time and be able to switch which sackbot I'm controlling without switching to a different controlinator. I've already done some searches and I know that there are ways this can be done. My question is what is the easiest way to do this? | 2011-09-22 01:22:00 Author: Unknown User |
Put the receiving controllinators on a micro chip, then have a tag sensor turn the chip on and off. On the transmitting controlinator hook buttons up to a selector that sends the tags that turn the chip with the corresponding receiver. If you have a problem understanding this, then psn message me and I will show you. | 2011-09-22 01:45:00 Author: fly_4_a_jedi Posts: 151 |
Thank you very much. That is so much simpler than the other way that I had in mind. | 2011-09-22 11:27:00 Author: Unknown User |
An alternative is placing transmitting ones on with different colors on chips and have the selector switch between those Also out of curiosity what were you going to do? | 2011-09-22 13:02:00 Author: fly_4_a_jedi Posts: 151 |
Ever seen Legends of the Hidden Temple? I'm recreating that. I needed it so that once you run into two temple guards, control switches to the second Sackbot. | 2011-09-23 00:59:00 Author: Unknown User |
I have not, and I was wondering how you was going to switch them. | 2011-09-23 01:02:00 Author: fly_4_a_jedi Posts: 151 |
The temple guards themselves are Sackbots created by an emitter and are programmed to follow the player Sackbot and subsequently return to a set point until its lifetime runs out. The player Sackbots are equipped with tags, and the temple guard Sackbots are equipped with tag sensors of the same color. When a tag sensor detects the player, it increments a counter, and once that counter reaches two, the first Sackbot is removed and control switches to the other player Sackbot. The tag sensor is also what tells the temple guard Sackbots to go to the set point after it comes close enough to the player Sackbot. | 2011-09-23 01:17:00 Author: Unknown User |
Sounds neat, yeah, switching via tags through a selector (probably selector through a controllinator, maybe hooked to an uncommon button like R3 or triangle). A friend of mine made a level called Steam Team, that uses 3 sackbots that you switch between to solve puzzles. You should check it out for a great example. Good luck. | 2011-09-23 01:47:00 Author: CYMBOL Posts: 1230 |
