I've noticed these screen names constantly on in the "Active Users" section at the bottom of the main forum page. There names are grey (silenced, right?) so i'm just wondering what they're doing and why they are still here? Obviously, it's most likely that they're bots, but why hasn't anything more than silencing them been done? Call me paranoid, but I don't like seeing them there. Any info on this would be good to know, thanks.

No, grey means they're banned. So something more then silencing was done. that said, their accounts could be deleted. dunno why not.

Oh, ok. Yeah, I just assumed, since they still showed up as online, that meant they were only silenced.

Yes, they are all bots and yes, they have been banned. Not sure why they keep showing back up.

Thanks, Morganna! But, like Rock said, are you able to delete the profile so they don't keep popping up at the bottom of the screen? It's just a bit of a nuisance is all.

To summarize, they're automated spambots who are too stupid to realize they've been banned, so they keep logging on, then trying, and failing, to make spam posts. I'd prefer not to delete the accounts, in case their code detects that, and tries to create a new account, and since there's no option in vBulletin to hide banned users specifically, I've just set them all to "Invisible" mode, which means they shouldn't show up any more.
