RPG Recommendations?

So... All of a sudden I have the craving to play RPG's again... xD Anybody know any good ones? Price is of no issue. I have money.
I would like it to be for PS3. I can now do PC since I just downloaded Steam. So only PC Steam RPG's. Still no PS Classics though...


Kingdom Hearts (Beaten 100%)
Kingdom Hearts 2 (Beaten 100%)
Final Fantasy XIII (Beaten)
Kindom Hearts 358/2 Days (Beaten 100%)
All Pokemons (Beaten each to 100%)
Final Fantasy XII Relevant Wings (Beaten 100%)
Spectrobes (Beaten 100%)
Infamous (Beaten)
Under Siege (In the middle of it... Hard game... D
Red Faction: Guerrilla (99% done)
There's a few more that I probably forgot... But I think you get it now... xD


I know a few that I WOULD get... But my mom is against blood and gore and stuff... Dx So the ones I like/want (God of War, Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age 2, Mass Effect 2, etc.) I can't get... Well... I CAN get them... But I would have to talk my mom into letting me buy them... Since apparently you can't buy M games (17 and up) until you're 18 in California... -_-"

Also, I don't want an RPG like CoD or anything. I know the thought process: Well... An RPG is a Role Playing Game. In CoD, you take the ROLE of a soldier. I don't want that. I want real RPG's. Like fantasy and stuff.

If you haven't played Valkyria Chronicles you should, it's a strategy RPG but it uses a very unique/immersive 3rd person view. It also has fantasic presentation/visuals...one of my favorite PS3 titles. Can probably find this cheap now.

I'm currently playing Disgaea 4 (another SRPG)...it's wacky humor and is maybe a bit of an aquired taste (sprites)...but it promises tons of hours of playtime.

Traditional/good JRPGs are really lacking on the PS3...I miss the PS2 days...but there's a few interesting titles on the horizon (keeps fingers crossed).

* Pass on White Knight Chronicles I or II...mediocre RPG with uninspired story and the online is a boring grind-fest where the rewards are few and far between (and ths is from someone that loves Monster Hunter and is used to grinding.)		2011-09-20 03:09:00

Ooo... Thank you! I'll look for some videos of them on YouTube. (I like to do research before I buy... ) Valkyria Chronicles sounds cool. And I've heard good things about Disgaea 4.

And yes, I miss the PS2 days also... :/

I was never really going to go for White Knight Chronicles because it got such low reviews...

The main things I like in an RPG are visuals and story. If anybody finds anything that matches that, I'll be very happy! 		2011-09-20 03:19:00

THe story is...hit or miss, but the Graphics and gameplay are good. One the character named Lymle is probably one of the most annoying characters in RPG history, so be warned lol

Ps3 doesnt really have a lot of JRPGs, theres Eternal Sonata--but I liked Star Ocean a lot better. Resonance of Fate is good if you love grinding and a ton of guns in your rpg.

Would say FF X, but a ps3 version of it was announced so i would just wait for that one		2011-09-20 04:53:00

Didn't Speedy say getting a bloody n' guts game would require convincing on the mother's part? Because in that case Fallout, Dead Island, Demon's Souls and the like will require it. They're pretty bloody (although in Fallout's case its bloody hilarious).2011-09-21 03:49:00

you should play breath of fire 3(or was it 4?)for the ps1.that game is friggen awesome.
a few i recommend is chrono trigger(for ds,psn,ps1,wii vc)and lufia 2.

breath of fire 3 and 4 were both on ps1, but I think the op wants new games as he asked for no classics. tbh, I don't think you'll find any good modern rpg's. valkyria chronicles is the only one I've tried and it was well worth it, but other then that.....2011-09-22 08:15:00

Yea im playing breath of fire IV on my ps3, that game probably has one of the most interesting progression systems I have seen in an rpg. Learning skills from enemies and masters is brilliant. Plus it uses all 6 party members in one battle--pretty cool combat system. But yea, this console generation doesnt have many good. Hmmm... Lots to consider... But, until I finally choose one, I have found something to keep busy with!

It's called Forsaken World and it's a Steam game by Perfect World Entertainment. Basically, it's a free version of WoW. Just started about 3 hours ago and I'm already a level 15 mage!

EDIT: I downloaded Forgotten Realms from steam... It is WoW. It is a blatant knockoff with bad art direction! WTF? And in their code of conduct you agree to, you aren't allowed to talk about WoW or Ever Quest or Guild Wars or you can be banned!? I know it is free, and I shouldn't complain, but Jesus Christ!
