I am Dave, Yognaut! And I have the balls! *salute* So let's hear it: how many of you here are fans of these guys: http://i635.photobucket.com/albums/uu78/SnipySev/yogscast___simon_and_lewis_by_notherbear-d38mjnq.jpg For those who don't know them, the Yogscast is a comic duo of two british gamers, Simon Lane and Lewis Brindley (aka Honeydew and Xephos, respectively). They're known for having one of the most popular YouTube gaming channels and many of their videos also feature Lewis' girlfriend Hannah. Their main focus is on Minecraft, having a highly successful machinima series (that actually started out as a Minecraft beginner's guide and then became a series with a plot and more characters), beta update coverages and frequent Mod Spotlights. They also do many Let's Play series either solo or in co-op, depending on the game. In my opinion, they are the funniest gaming channel there's on YouTube. They usually did a Podcast called the Yogpod but there hasn't been one in quite a while. Sooo... apparently the Yogscast guys used a F-bomb in front of a huge crowd at MineCon, and because there were kids there Notch got angry at them. Looks like he cut ties and banned them from future MineCons. I'll try to figure out all sides of the story before I decide who I consider right or wrong in this, but I think Notch is being a hypocrite considering that the same kids will watch these videos I posted above and hear him telling a lame "your mom" joke to Simon. Edit: Well, this just got intense. Notch is making very serious accusations in his twitter. He says the Yogscast people acted like total ******** during the whole con. Go check for yourselves, I can't even bring myself to copy-paste his tweets. It's shocking. If this is confirmed as true, the Yogscast's public image is going to get crippled. I can't even believe it, this behaviour notch described doesn't sound like Simon and Lewis at all.

I can hardly believe it. Personally I don't even have to hear the yog's response to think that Notch may be making a mountain out of a mole hill and swinging his weight around a little too much. The yogs have never been the type to do really anything that Notch has described. It annoys me to see some YT personalities immediately siding with Notch after only seeing one side of what seems to be a radical story.

Well I'm still thinking about what could have happened. We obviously don't know the full story. Did the Vegas spirit (alcohol, drugs, etc) get to them? Did anyone take their sarcastic humor too seriously and blew it out of proportion? Was it all a big misunderstanding? Is Notch being 100% sincere on this or is there something he's keeping away? Who's responsible: Simon and/or Lewis, other members of the Yogscast or all the team in general? Both them and Mojang obviously should have handled this privately. The Yogscast said on their twitter that they'd clear this out in a video once Lewis and Simon got home (they're on a plane right now). I can't wait to hear their side of the story. If all this is 100% true, I'll be very disappointed. It's sad when Internet fame changes people into douchebags and I hope that isn't the case here.

Cursing in a live event and on a video on the internet are two COMPLETELY different things, mind you. Mainly because on the online video, they will hear it as they choose to watch that, on a live event, ANYONE could've hear it if they were nearby, including people that are offended upon such or people that would not like their children to hear it. See, if they hear it on a video, because parent's weren't supervising, that's on the parents they don't really have much right to complain unless the video was completely misleading, if they hear it just because they were walking by a family event...that's all on the one who said it and people have a right to complain about that to them, and mainly to the people that invited them, the people on top/ the people who allowed that to happen. Not to mention in public events, there are usually sponsors, and if the sponsors don't like what they see or hear, or have a lot of people complaining, they withdraw, costing the company money. So if this is true, Notch is very much in his right to do what he did and act as he has. On the other hand, this can just be a publicity stunt too, tho, to get them both more attention.

If it's a publicity stunt, it's a very strange one. I can't see how the Yogscast could benefit from being painted huge arrogant tossers and how Notch could benefit from handling PR through a social network like a teenage drama queen. Some even say it's a massive troll. This situation isn't getting any less weird.

Either the Yogscast are in fact gigantic tossers or there were a few unfortunate misunderstandings that caused some tension between Yogscast and Mojang and culminated with an extremely tired Notch throwing a massive ******fit on twitter. Few details of both sides of the story actually make sense. Maybe we'll never know what exactly happened. Heck, maybe even Notch, Lewis and Simon don't know what exactly happened.

Eh, I'll just forget this ever happened and view the Yogscast and Notch with the same reespect I had before. They're making an indie game focused om map creation! They're resorting to Kickstarter (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/winterkewlgames/yogventures) to get funding. And it's going well, it's just the first few hours and they've already got 42.000$! There's already a video of early gameplay. And sure, it doesn't look like much right now but it's a good start.

It's just a proof of concept. It's a pretty standard thing to have to get your general idea across. I just wish people would stop judging it solely on that. Winterkewl seems to be a great team of experienced professionals so I have very few doubts.

Of course. If they made that without funding, just imagine how much better it'd get with the 250,000$. Assuming the money would be put to good use and that they'd reach the Kickstarter goal. And there's no way they won't reach the goal, they have raised more than 10.000$ on this last hour alone. It's nuts.
