I know this is going to seem like an embarrassingly simple question, but I am having a heck of a time so here it goes: How do you play with people online? I'll say the following just to avoid certain questions. I am connected to the internet, I am playing LBP2, I go to the community section and see that 1000+ people are online currently. That's as far as I can get. No matter what I do, be it Cool Levels, Diving In, Mm Picks, etc., I am never playing with people over the internet. It's the strangest thing. I hope that I am simply doing something wrong (or have done something wrong). I can barely figure out how to select levels frankly. I very much miss the 'world' system from the first game.

If you hit start and look through settings there are options to join/reject other players. On the other side I reject players when I'm online because I usually experience lag. There is a dive in button worked for me, I clicked that once and ended up with some really young kids that were going through the cool levels to upload photos... so I got out of there.

Can you play other games online? LBP seems the hardest game to play online for me. (It's usually fine, but often it lags or shows error messages)

@gdn001 Yes, I play other games online without a problem. My main games are Red Dead Redemption and Borderlands, and I have had nearly zero problems doing so. What Mr_Fusion says concerns me, because perhaps the same as he, I am just having a difficult time with LPB2. It's funny, because I played online with the first game like crazy, probably 500+ hours, and now I haven't been able to see a single soul.

When you try to join a level with other people playing does it pop up asking if you want to play on your own or join others? If the pop up doesn't appear you have your settings set to always play on my own and don't ask each time. You can alter that in your online settings within the settings menu. Mind it may not always work, if it doesn't then you've either been rejected or you failed to connect with them.

@ Xaif, It always tries to connect, and after a 30 second timer counts down, tells me that it failed in one way or another. Sometimes it finds a person and claims to be connecting to them, but still fails every time. It's befuddling.

That happens to me a lot too, actually. I can play with friends perfectly fine, but with randoms what you describe does happen. I'd say it's likely down to the servers or something - it surely has to be? Or maybe we both just have terrible Internet connections. =P

Lol, I'll blame the servers. Other games play fine, and it is a half year after release.. they (Mm) may not care as much anymore. What sucks most about it is this was going to be a game the gf and I could play a bunch, and we've already gone through the story so online was the next logical step.

I will reject randoms almost every time or just not press the button to accept/deny and it time-out. Check your settings and set the allow people to join me setting, and play some new content, the move pack or an Mm Pick. You should see the message pop up, and then you can reject them .

LBP seems to require a pretty high speed, otherwise it'll throw errors for reasons I think they are mostly made up just so young players won't be blaming the game for running terribly bad when playing with friends. That's my guess though.

That may just be the case as it more often than not says the connection timed out. That said, I rarely play online with random people so it's really no big deal for me. I get requests for people to join me (especially on the Move pack) so it's working, I guess I wrongly assumed timed out would mean a network connection issue though.

I usually have to fight people off trying to join me. lol I constantly get the " so and so would like to join you" prompt, which I more often than not deny, just because I don't like random people joining me, based on past experiences and lag issues. When I try to join people, it usually goes through. I have had errors connecting to others before, in which case I am just thrown back into my pod. Btw, I saw you mentioned Red Dead Redemption and Borderlands...some of the best games ever! (platinumed both) Great choices in games you have

Internet connection is fine and comcast cable. Believe me, that is not the problem. RDR and Vindictus run frequently without a hiccup. It does seem to be that I am always, ALWAYS rejected, to the point that I have given up on playing this game online. I remember when playing the first game, it took seconds to get into a game with someone. Now it is impossible. That's fine, I don't care enough about the trophies and I can fool around in the levels with someone sitting on the couch beside me.

I have the same issue as you. I'm afraid I won't be able to get my platinum since I can't connect to anybody with Dive-In... My friends? Yea... Perfectly fine... (Except Dortr... -_-) I just can't connect to anybody not on my friends list. I get error messages all the time. I also have super fast internet speed and a 98%+ connection... It's weird... :/ And annoying... D:

It's a bad decision, that's what it is. They associated trophies with a gameplay mechanic that allows the blocking of using that mechanic. Ah well, I'd rather have LBP be more about fun than trophy hunting anyway. I usually don't say they have to be separated, but since I'm forced to in this case...
