Mirror's Edge: Leap Of Faith

Archive: 20 posts

Play As Faith in my favorite game of all time Mirror's Edge! My greatest creation brought to life with game play & atmosphere incorporated as much as i could i put alot of heart into this level and had alot of fun making it so i hope all of you enjoy it.:

WARNING!!!!!!!!! ONE PLAYER ONLY!!!! Recommend for advanced players so expect a challenge.

Also i would also like to mention im aware that wall jumping can be tedious and i apologize for this everyone it used to be alot smoother but i ran into a huge problem that made me change it once more im sorry if some of you have trouble with wall jumping i will do what i can to make it better with that being said i really hope you all will be able to enjoy my level.

Great job on this. Very true to the Mirror's Edge game. Wall jumping has a slight learning curve but after enough practice, it was no problem. Love the atmosphere and lighting. Gameplay is simple and easy to understand like the game itself. Happy face and heart from me. Encore, encore.2011-09-19 22:44:00

Alright, I have played through this level three times since you published it, so I got a chance to evaluate all of the detail of it. Here is what I think...

My overall opinion is that this is a great level, and defiantly your best.

I don't see anything bad with your level; only some minor flaws. I emphasize minor because they don't even come close to breaking the level and can be overlooked easily.

As stated before, the wall jumping is iffy, but I would compare it with a sports car. It's awesome, but it has mechanical issues. Sometimes it works too well and makes Faith take to the freakin sky while other times, it makes Faith look like a drunk ninja who forgot how to wall jump. It worked the way I wanted it 70% of the time, and only takes a little practice to get down. You give players a deadly first try at it lol, but infinite-life checkpoints make it so the issues don't ruin the game for the player. It is something I've never seen before in a level, so great job for thinking it up, and making it happen.

The visuals are very well done. The 3d layer glitch is frequently used, the player character being turned into Faith is excellent, the theme is true to the Mirror's Edge game and the colors must have taken a lot of paint work, and it pays off. The layout is also very in proportion which is something you would see in a real city. I did notice some seams on the buildings and walls that could have been covered up with a thin layer, but that was the only visual flaw IMO. Most players may not even notice it, or may not even consider it a flaw.

The game-play was awesome. Great choices on music, but I did not see credit given to the creator of the first song in the level. Is it in the description? I forgot to look.
The puzzles were simple, and well done. The obstacles were awesome and very creative.
You put a warning about the difficulty, but I think it is NOT a hard level. Once the wall-jump learning curve is out of the way, the difficulty is moderate; which I really like. Most levels are either too hard or too easy. You managed to make the difficulty just right.

Again, this is your best level IMO, and I think it is worthy of recognition.

In the future, If you decide to make another Mirror's Edge level, you should maybe add enemies or something to make the player feel like they are being chased or tracked by "evil" security dudes lol. This would add even more of a Mirror's Edge feel. But alas, the thermo in LBP2 is still so limiting, even now.

Thanks alot raptor for playing my level and the detailed review and the kind words.
Your absolutely right with the visual there are some little nicks her and there that a thin would quickly fix either i was to lazy to add or i forgot to add it lmao course that's no excuse though lol.
As for giving credit to the music CRAPPPPP! lmao i feel like an *** i completely forgot amongst other things hahahah as soon as im done here with another game i promise to touch up my level a little and make tribute to whom who helped me with the music thanks for the reminder raptor.
And as for a second part im certainly thinking about it, as for the chasing sack bots i planned adding those to this level but sadly there aren't very good at chasing infact there terrible hahah i tested them out and they couldn't even keep up they would end up falling down or dying somewhere lol so i had to trash the idea for the time being till i get more experience with them.
Once again raptor thanks again for the review and playing my level im glad you had a good time playing it.

It takes a while to get the hang of the gameplay mechanics but it's very well made, and beatiful too. I haven't played Mirror's Edge but I can see it resembles the game closely. Awesome job!2011-09-21 19:28:00

Hello,

I played your level, really nicely done !

But I got stuck after reaching the "office", where there's an elevator that needs a key.

I know there's a red panel that you will use to climb, but that red panel fall over me so I was stuck on that section... or that was on purpose?

Anyway I enjoyed playing it
