Remote RGB hologram array
Archive: 11 posts
I've been working on this for a while, and have decided that it is time to get some help. It is a huge project, and completely unlike anything I have seen to this date, and I don't think I can do it alone. I have 3 15x15 grids of hologram, all occupying the same space. One is red, another is green and the third is blue. Every one of pieces of the array is wired into a magnetic key switch (sorry, tag sensor), and set to receive an analogue signal from its corresponding key (sorry, tag). The keys all have different labels, from 00a to 14o. This allows me to produce any color on any pixel in any arrangement, from anywhere in the level. I have several 'programs' for it, or sets of sequenced tags (woohoo got it right this time), most of which are to simple to include in a final level or are not working yet (p1 is in a blue remote cotrollanator, to allow for 'interactive' programs). I basically need more programs before I publish; I was hoping to do some kind of music/lights show, but alas, I cannot make cool music. I will get some pics of it when I can... | 2011-09-18 15:28:00 Author: Unknown User |

If I had a nickel for every time I heard that.... Anyways here are some pics. http://if.lbp.me/img/ft/a2f1da6dd01d20c6b8b70c133b73cc20253c49a3.jpg http://i6.lbp.me/img/ft/5964cf7f07f7f4dea67f19e0e3a164d3c43570b9.jpg http://ic.lbp.me/img/ft/49c89cf6ab0af3e90e3ff43a896406f3771013c2.jpg http://id.lbp.me/img/ft/14dc0a33ed5ecb136feab7455891836e6a71d23d.jpg This is all that I have currently working, aside from a few things that I did to test the design. The problem with these is that they take up far too much thermometer space. The maze takes up almost 15% of the thermo; that is a LOT of logic. Something that I think can be done that dosen't take up too much thermo is a lights show, with music. They do not require an array, as these other things do, and they are not so monotonous to make; The maze was basically 7 hours or more of busywork of connecting up wires to the correct spot. ugh... not fun. Anyways I think that music/light shows are more impressive anyways so I think that I will stop with games after pong. I need someone that can make good foreground music, so that I can sync a lights show. Preferably at 75 or 150 bpm. | 2011-09-20 01:22:00 Author: Unknown User |
what kind of music? | 2011-09-20 03:46:00 Author: nunsmasher Posts: 247 |
I was thinking something with a strong beat, and a futuristic sound... (eye of the tiger (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btPJPFnesV4&ob=av3e) comes to mind). That said, anything that would be cool with lights would do fine; one of my goals when making this was to make a system that was almost as versatile as lbp itself, so anything would do. | 2011-09-20 19:53:00 Author: Unknown User |
If anyone is interested in helping out in any way, just say so and I will show you what I have, how it works etc. | 2011-09-24 02:52:00 Author: Unknown User |
The pics look cool... But oddly remind me of my parents 20,000,000 (exaggeration?) year old TV screen... | 2011-09-24 04:16:00 Author: Unknown User |
I would have thought that to be good; a 20m year old TV can still do alot; just without the resolution that modern HDTVs provide. I have referred to this device as a TV before, though the name isn't exactly accurate... I had an idea that I could put another layer over the screen that would register the move cursor. I'm still working out how exactly to get the player into the motivator but the output of that screen will be an analogue output; 0 for not over 40 for over, 20 for the t button pressed, and 10 for the action button being pressed. By adding these values together you should be able to get the exact state of the pointer at any point in space or time. As this idea is not yet implemented, I am still open to suggestions. If you want to work with this setup, I need all the help I can get; I want this to have enough content to get past the tipping point of popularity. | 2011-09-24 18:58:00 Author: Unknown User |
I have a game for you to make with this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Oy3VBfFFmo | 2011-09-24 19:09:00 Author: nunsmasher Posts: 247 |
I was thinking of starting my own original musical pieces in LBP2 soon. I've recreated a few existing songs in LBP2 using the sequencer instruments (which will be available as prizes in my upcoming Move-compatible iPod gallery level), but this would be a good start for original works. | 2011-09-24 19:42:00 Author: xero Posts: 2419 |
@nunsmasher - That is a good idea to make. I will start working on an engine today; do you have any idea how to make the interface? my current idea is to make the bottom row a menu, and select the color from there, but that would disable the bottom row. the only other major problem that I can think of is creating the board; I will need to have a randomizer output go to a small memory cell or something... mabie I could integrate it with the engine??? Will have to work on. @xero - Any help will be greatly appreciated, particularly with music. I will make sure that you get your name gets in the level. | 2011-09-24 22:54:00 Author: Unknown User |
