Changing Movinator Cursor!

Archive: 4 posts

Hey all, i've not posted for a while, so i thought i'd change that, by making a really simple tutorial, that may be obvious to some, but not so to others...

You may have noticed in some of the new 'Move' mini games, that the cursor changes, for example, in 'Jam Kerblam' if you hit a bomb, you lose the use of your cursor and it changes to a skull image, now this is really simple to achieve...

As many of you know, microchips can be turned on and off, using the small input tab at the bottom...

This can be said for the 'Movinator Cursor'. Place two down on to your 'Movinator's' Circuit board. Also we'll need a selector and a 'NOT' Gate. Connected like so..

Here you can see, i have two 'Movinator' Chips connected from a selector. Port one of the selector has a 'NOT' Gate, and which has the 'Trigger' as its input, then port two is just the trigger on its own. What this does, is, when ever the trigger is being held down it activates port two, when this is released, it goes back to port one.

Now you can connect anything to these ports to get the desired effect.

Now on to changing the actual cursor, this will be pretty obvious for most, all you do, is go into the tweaks menu of the 'Movinator' Chips, select the top option, and pick a sticker. Do this for all your Movinator Chips, you can also tweak each of the settings, say you wanted it to be able to grab things, then you grab the wrong thing, this could set off the second cursor, that has the 'grab; feature disabled. Or you could just use it for simple animation effects of the cursor, like the level where when you hold the trigger the hand grabs (Name Please?)

nice job. Very well written, this has been a point of confusion for a lot of folks.

One point though. If you are using the NOT gate attached to the secondary cursor activation signal, you do not need the selector.

If you want to use the selector for clarity, you do not need the NOT gate in this instance. because of the nature of selectors, a battery will do the same.

Does it? I always thought it needed a fresh signal to get it to work, not just the constant of a battery. I know for that example, I didn't need it really, but I just wanted to show that selectors are the best way of dealing with it..
