(Move) It's just not grabbing.
Archive: 14 posts
I've been playing around with the new Move tools and I came across a problem. When trying to grab non grabbable materials with the cursor it just wasn't happening even when the material had a changer on it which set it be grabbed (and I tried every combination with it). Is anyone else having this problem or am is there something I'm not doing? | 2011-09-15 01:17:00 Author: shotgun_69 ![]() Posts: 157 |
Alright... I just tested this and what I found is that you can't pick up rock with it. I was able to pick up cardboard though... Just did a little more testing. You can't pick up heavy objects with it. Only light ones. :/ Maybe we'll find a way around this soon... | 2011-09-15 01:39:00 Author: Speedynutty68 ![]() Posts: 1614 |
i tried messing around with the gravity tweaker but to no avail. going to report it to MM and see if it's bug. | 2011-09-15 01:57:00 Author: shotgun_69 ![]() Posts: 157 |
i tried messing around with the gravity tweaker but to no avail. Then It's probably based on mass, not weight. You could sticker something on Sticker Panel to make it look like rock perhaps? | 2011-09-15 23:47:00 Author: Aya042 ![]() Posts: 2870 |
Then It's probably based on mass, not weight. You could sticker something on Sticker Panel to make it look like rock perhaps? That could work. It wouldn't look perfectly and you would have to put a boundary on it. But it could work. | 2011-09-15 23:55:00 Author: Speedynutty68 ![]() Posts: 1614 |
Later on in the level there is going to be a part of it which uses that and I'm wanting them to be distinctively different. I've reported the problem to MM and from what I can gather about the replies it is a glitch so hopefully they'll be able to patch it. If worse comes to worse though I'm going to have to go with the sticker idea and mess around with the lighting. | 2011-09-16 01:36:00 Author: shotgun_69 ![]() Posts: 157 |
umm...ive not thoroughly examined this as a problem...there is an option in the move cursor tweaker to pick things up with a certain tag on it...it shouldnt need the material tweak, just this one tag. try it out | 2011-09-16 18:30:00 Author: Unknown User ![]() |
Tried it and nope it doesn't work. Also found out that in order for an object to be grabbable all the material needs to a grabbable material, you can't have a non grabbable material anywhere on the object if you want to pick it up with the cursor. | 2011-09-17 01:27:00 Author: shotgun_69 ![]() Posts: 157 |
the mass can't exceed 16.5 for the move to grab it. To check the mass: put an in-out mover on and check what it says the mass is. (i might be wrong here) just check wagglers vids :/ | 2011-09-17 08:28:00 Author: a_mailbox ![]() Posts: 416 |
Couldn't you just make the rock follow a tag on the cursor? There wouldn't be a limit to mass then. | 2011-09-17 09:50:00 Author: FlipMeister ![]() Posts: 631 |
Tried using the tag trick and it does work but you have to move the cursor very slowly or else it moves away from the object. Done a search see if I could find anything to do with the weight but can't find anything, what video did you say you saw it in again? | 2011-09-19 02:31:00 Author: shotgun_69 ![]() Posts: 157 |
wagglers vids. You know, the analysis of the beta pack... also if you set the object to a large scale follow and at 100 speed, it should follow the cursor anywhere it goes :/ | 2011-09-19 07:05:00 Author: a_mailbox ![]() Posts: 416 |
I did set it to 100% but it still didn't work. I'll check that video out and see if I can figure anything out. | 2011-09-19 20:56:00 Author: shotgun_69 ![]() Posts: 157 |
