Problem with Music Sequencer...
Archive: 7 posts
Ok to the people who also create with the sequencer as of today. Has anyone noticed that you can change the instruments on your saved songs anymore. Like now, I'm trying to change instruments on a song or two but it just goes on top of the instrument i'm trying to replace instead of actually replacing it. So my question is...Is there anyone else experiencing this problem? Ok nevermind I just needed to go into a blank level. The tread can be closed. | 2011-09-14 04:31:00 Author: TheManofSteel3kO Posts: 74 |
Ah! Wait! What did you do - this happened to me last night, I tried copying the sequencer into a blank level, but it still didn't work. Could you tell me in a little more detail what you did to solve this? I desperately want to change my bass... and I really dont fancy resequencing it lol. | 2011-09-14 11:02:00 Author: rialrees Posts: 1015 |

As far as I can tell, nothing's changed about the way in which Music Sequencer Instrument replacement works. The two key points to remember are... If the Music Sequencer isn't owned by you (which you can tell by whether or not you can move the existing parts around), you can't replace the instruments. Otherwise, when trying to replace an instrument, you need to ensure that the left edge of the instrument part you're trying to replace with is aligned with the left edge of the part you're trying to replace, i.e. so the instrument icons are aligned. ...but I could be missing something. | 2011-09-14 13:09:00 Author: Aya042 Posts: 2870 |
Yup, all points checked and affirmative. Sequencer is definately my own, as I remember the pain of sequencing it all >.< All instruments are properly aligned. I seem to remember this happening to me before, and couldn't figure out how to replicate it. Hard for me to test out atm as I'm at work, and i just sort of gave up on it last night. Will try shifting it around my moon a little more later and see if that helps :O | 2011-09-14 13:39:00 Author: rialrees Posts: 1015 |
If the Music Sequencer isn't owned by you (which you can tell by whether or not you can move the existing parts around), you can't replace the instruments. Wait, so what can you edit? Instrument type? Sequence? Pattern? Panning/Volume/Echo/Reverb? I've never really worked with remixing another person's work, so I haven't been able to delve into this yet. The reason I ask is that I've got a couple tracks that I may be interested in remixing one day... sorry to delve a bit more OT with this thread, but I'm curious to know. @rialrees: You may be able to place the saved object in your level, copy it, and then try to edit the copied version. That's what works for saved fonts, at least. | 2011-09-14 13:52:00 Author: schm0 Posts: 1239 |
Wait, so what can you edit? Anything if you copy the samples and drag them on to a blank sequencer. I imagine this is the method preferred by most people who remix. If credit of the original creator is required... not sure if it would register any credit tbh, but that can be easily solved with a quick visit to a moon if it's a requirement. @rialrees: You may be able to place the saved object in your level, copy it, and then try to edit the copied version. That's what works for saved fonts, at least. Thanks for that, I'm hoping that will be the case... fingers crossed ey, I'll let you know! | 2011-09-14 14:15:00 Author: rialrees Posts: 1015 |
Sequencer is definately my own, as I remember the pain of sequencing it all. Well, it's possible to lose ownership of your own objects under certain circumstances. In LBP1 you can do it by capturing with a guest controller, then emitting it. I think the ability to capture with a guest controller has been removed in LBP2, there there's probably still a way to lose ownership of an object. I seem to remember this happening to me before, and couldn't figure out how to replicate it. Would be interested to know if you can replicate it, 'cause I've never encountered it before. Anyways, there's an easy way to regain ownership (and editability) of any Music Sequencer, even one created by someone else, and community locked, although it can be a little fiddly. Just create a new Music Sequencer, and copy/paste all the parts from the old one to the new one. To avoid losing the part lengths, make sure the two 'circuitboards' overlap. Same thing works for Microchips, except for components which are themselves 'containers' (i.e. have their own 'circuitboard&apos - you have to recurse through those manually. Wait, so what can you edit? It follows the same rules as other 'attached' tools (like logic gates) - you can select and tweak them, but you can't move or delete them. You may be able to place the saved object in your level, copy it, and then try to edit the copied version. That's what works for saved fonts, at least. Yeah. Capturing an object and placing the captured copy can grant a little more flexibility in some situations, but I find it usually only affects 'association' (i.e. cases where multiple objects can only be moved as a single unit), not 'editability' (e.g. being able to use the Corner Editor tool on a piece of material). | 2011-09-14 15:08:00 Author: Aya042 Posts: 2870 |
