Advanced Emitters (tips & tricks)
Archive: 7 posts
Hey guys. I was/am creating this 'bubble area' in my level with emitters. Not the score bubbles but actual bubbles that float around in the air. And to do this I have nested my emitters. So one emits a glass bubble and on that bubble is another emitter that will emit a smaller glass bubble or two. Etc. When its all said and done it will hopefully look like the bubbles are popping into smaller ones and then dissapearing. And it cleans up the workspace by not having tons of emitters sitting all over my level. So all my emitters are being emitted. LOL So I was thinking there must be other levels out there or even tutorials on some advanced emitter logic. Emitters are so awsome and they are the things I use the most. Yet at the same time I wish I new more about them and even some cool tricks I could do with them. So this thread is just for that. Please share any tips/tricks you have about emitters. | 2011-09-13 04:32:00 Author: Bitter Sweet Posts: 95 |

Yeah some cool stuff started happening when i nested the emitters on floaty objects with all emitters having different sync times and volocities. Not sure what is acutally going on as I do not know my way around sync well enough. But I have my bubbles nested 3 levels deep and when you add a linear volocity to the highest nested emitter it trickles down to the lowest level. So in other words if your emitter is moving when it emits, the object will move aswell. But then I put a spin on the bubbles and now instead of them moving straight in the direction they emit to they wave back and forth. They bump into one another and have this really cool look. I can't wait to show off what I've done. I notice tho that my thermo bar is moving like an equilizer now. LOL. with all the emits it just goes up and down and up like music is blaring. So I'll add a motion senser so it doesn't cause lag in the end. | 2011-09-13 23:46:00 Author: Bitter Sweet Posts: 95 |
Hey, that sounds cool, want to see it once your new lv comes out. | 2011-09-14 11:46:00 Author: nysudyrgh Posts: 5482 |

Yeah its a neat effect. Unfortunately it doesn't look like lots of work went into it. You creaters may appreciate it but I think everyone else will just walk by it and go "ooo bubbles" and keep walking. And for that, it may not be worth the potential lag I may get as a result. ...Now if I could just figure out those peskey wobble bolts... | 2011-09-16 07:45:00 Author: Bitter Sweet Posts: 95 |
