Hello LittleBigPlaneteers, as some of the more advanced creators will have noticed, along with the improvements in 1.07 ?Roquefort?, we accidentally introduced a small but annoying bug which caused some issues when capturing complex objects into your popit. Alas! Regressions occasionally happen, and we are very sorry for any trouble it may have caused you. Luckily, it won?t affect most of you, and for those who run across it, help is at hand! Read on for more?

Firstly, intrepid and brilliant user rz22g / ?Kratos 4′ has posted a detailed workaround on youtube:

2UttQiC4BZ0

Outstanding job and excellent voiceover there Mr Kratos.

Secondly, Moo here at MM towers jumped into the fray and has submitted an emergency fix into the magical PS3 QA system. However, to make sure we don't introduce any more regressions, it has to go through a fair amount of testing and QA. What with the holiday season upon us, and the complexity of LBP, this will take a few working days - so we can?t promise you an exact date for the fix to go out. But rest assured that the problem has been found and (as far as we know), squashed. At the same time, we?re also looking at a couple?o'ther issues, such as a text-chat-disappearing issue, which we?ll roll up and deliver as soon as possible, along with yet-more downloadable goodies. Most likely as a 2009 new years drop!

On the up-side, this doesn?t stop the game from being as fun as ever - and y?all have MGS to look forward to real-soon-now. See you online, paintinating away!

For those interested in the behind-the-scenes stuff, the change that we made to popit that caused all the kerfuffle is part of a suite of changes we?re making under the hood, that will let us & you the community track not just levels, but individual creations and how they are used and distributed in levels, amongst the community. I can?t give any more details yet, but I promise it will be worth it, especially for budding creators and object sharers! Mr Kratos 4 will certainly become known as a dab hand at tank creation, if his current work is anything to go by? Hang in there and in the meantime, you can use his workaround and enjoy Playing Creating and Sharing your way into 2009. Happy Holidays!

Alex

Well this is a separate thread that goes on the front page which is taken from sources around the site or external sources.

I think CC just formatted it for the front page....

Just to let everyone know, the 1.07 update got rid of the cow glitch *sniff*.
You'll have to delete the update for it to work, then re-install after making a level with it in.

Heheh... thanks. I just hope I got CCubbage pronounced right. I dont think I did. Im already self-conscious about my accent and then throw in screwing someones name up.

Im glad MM responded so fast. Man they are really on top of thing. To take time to even acknowledge this problem right here at Christmas and right at the release of MGS. Thats just awesome.

yeah super props to MM.

does anyone know if this bug effects only objects that are captured after the 1.07 patch, or does it retroactively affect objects captured before then as well?

their proposed enhancement of being able to track your objects as they are shared across the network is AWESOME!

That is an awesome idea. Kind of wish I had held off on giving my tank away but oh well.

The bug affects any capture you make that falls under the condition of wired controls to off object, regardless of when the object was made. You can load objects that were saved prior but try to capture that same object again, with or without changes, and it wont capture the wires.

For anyone in the future who needs to pronounce "Cubbage": This video is the definitive pronunciation. Few people have ever gotten it right the first time, so congrats Kratos4!

Dig the accent, by the way.

This update also caused my level to die. After a week of working on it, the last day, I did some finishing touches. Went to test play it. Something along the lines of "this level has de-something" popped up when i spawned. I ignored it, played my level, improved my level, saved, quit. Went to show my mom when she came home, the level "failed to load." I never published it. The bar was half full.

I made a really awesome disco floor in it, too.
Of course, I didn't get to save that to my pop-it.

Here's an idea (I don't know if this will work because I don't have a level that is giving me this problem):

Make a backup of your levels (even the apparently damaged ones)
Try removing the latest update of LittleBigPlanet
Try launching the original disk of LittleBigPlanet and say "no" to update.
See if your game will launch

I think what we need to determine is if a) there is an issue in the latest LittleBigPlanet patch that causes the game not to load or if b) the file became damaged while updating to the latest patch.

If you have a backup of a damaged level, it will help identify if it is a bug in LittleBigPlanet or a damaged file by whether you can load the backup of your level.

If we can definitively identify that there is an issue in the software, I'm sure you could pass the file to Media Molecule to try to find a fix.

If, however, it was an issue that occurred in the FAT table of the hard drive, even if the level got damaged when applying the patch it is not really Media Molecules fault.

(another reason I mentioned in my previous email to make backups - they can also help identify issues)

I would LOVE to find this if it is an issue with LBP - I would hate to lose my own level. It's a lot of work building those things...

When u try to costumize your sackboy with stickers, there is some specific places in sackperson's body, that if u attach a sticker on them u cant unstick it!! u can only go to 'wash costume' and remove every sticker from sackperson's body!

Have onyone noticed it?

Hope they ll fix it!
