Syncing Music Sequencer w/ lights

ive been trying to figure this out for so long! any ideas how to sync a music sequencer and get the beat to go with the lights?2011-09-09 23:25:00

The basic idea is to put a regular sequencer on the music sequencer. Arrange tags on the nested sequencer to match the music and equip your lights with the appropriate tag sensor. This does mean that you'll have to be mindful of where the music object is relative to your lights!

As many creators discovered in last month's site contest, the music produced by the sequencer runs separately from gameplay itself. Consequently, if anything slows down the engine (e.g. a cascade of explosions, a flurry of projectiles) the music will continue while the scheduled events on the sequencer fall behind. In other words, you will need to be cautious about creating too much action or the lights and the beat will become desynced.

If your level and music are very long it is likely that you will suffer some desync as tiny quantities of simulation lag accumulate over time. Fortunately, the music sequencer and the regular sequencers it carries will be synced again if you start some new music or loop back to the beginning of your current song.
