Level Breaking Glitch
Archive: 5 posts
Ok, I've got a serious level breaking problem that I'd really like help with fixing. To be honest, I'm not actually entirely sure if it's a problem with my level or with my profile. I've been making a level for quite some time. A few weeks back I had finished a segment of my level (and had ran into no glitches whatsoever) and decided to publish a locked copy of this level online for safekeeping. About a week ago however, I was continuing work on this level on a separate level segment (but still in the same level) when I noticed that the previous segment of my level was beginning to glitch: bits of it being invisible and big yellow exclamation marks everywhere. Note that I haven't touched this part of the level. This was like this in both play mode and create mode. This is when things started to get weird. Unable to fix this, I played my locked version of my level on my earth that had the previous unglitched version of the level, and for some strange reason parts of the level were glitched, even though when I published it, there was no hint at a problem with it. Then I play another one of my levels that I finished about a month ago, but haven't published, and it is experiencing similar glitches! How does this make sense, I haven't edited it for weeks, yet I've played it every few days with no issues. Suddenly when one of my levels starts glitching my other ones do too??? This next bit may be unrelated to the problem. I played a community level online just after this happened and it too had glitches everywhere - invisible segments and yellow exclamation marks. This could possibly be just a glitchy level that the author published, or my crappy problem again. At this point I turned off my PS3 and turned it back on again to find, to my relief, everything seemed to be back to normal. I figured that this must have been a strange one time glitch, and didn't worry about it. That was, until today, when the same thing happened again... This is really frustrating... Help me LBP community, you're my only hope... | 2011-09-08 21:06:00 Author: DaSpoony Posts: 191 |
So far that has only occured to me in LBP1 where it has actually meant things are broken. It happens to me the whole time though in LBP2 as a result of "this area of your level is too complex" (which I've discovered to be more likely to be that there are too many complex items visible). The fact that this occured in a community level too does make one wonder.. | 2011-09-08 22:03:00 Author: croissantbuncake Posts: 572 |

That's the thing though. I haven't gotten any messages about it being too complex like I did when making previous levels. Half the time things just disappear without even a yellow exclamation mark! Not to mention it was fine in my level until I edited a separate part. | 2011-09-08 22:31:00 Author: DaSpoony Posts: 191 |
Suddenly when one of my levels starts glitching my other ones do too??? I have this every time I try to edit my Garden of Goodies level. It's as if it triggers a serious memory leak (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memory_leak), and from then on, until I restart the game, there are all sorts of rendering issues in every part of the game. The only solution I could find was to always restart the game after editing that particular level. | 2011-09-09 02:52:00 Author: Aya042 Posts: 2870 |
This exact thing happened to me some weeks ago! I was horrified especially because it happened right after I'd backed up over a previous profile, so I couldn't restore... however the problem has since corrected itself. I've "quarantined" the glitchy level area in its own place on the Moon, it's playable and editable but once it starts to glitch out on me (if I add to that level or copy-paste it to another level, for example; but it's inconsistent) my system gets wonky. I've sort of abandoned that project. My deepest empathy! Who knows why things go wrong, sometimes. | 2011-09-09 04:06:00 Author: Unknown User |
