New series of QI

Just a heads-up for the Stephen Fry fans amongst you, the new series 'I' of QI started Friday 9th September at 10pm on BBC2, with the XL repeats on Saturdays at 9pm also on BBC2. | 2011-09-07 20:53:00 Author: Aya042 Posts: 2870 |
Best show on TV in my opinion. What's amazing about Stephen Fry, is that no matter what topic they are talking about, he demonstrates an almost encyclopedic knowledge of it - and you can tell that it's his own personal knowledge and not a voice in his ear. I'm just hoping he lives long enough to get to the "Z" series... I can't imagine who could replace him. | 2011-09-08 02:06:00 Author: Macnme Posts: 1970 |
Definitely the best show on tv. It's the only show in the world that's funny, and educational. Stephen Fry is amazing, he's like a living, breathing encyclopedia. | 2011-09-08 18:05:00 Author: talbot-trembler Posts: 1114 |
Wait, I didn't know!? Thanks for telling, Sky+ away! | 2011-09-08 20:16:00 Author: kirbyman62 Posts: 1893 |

Grr.... missed it But it seems like they are broadcasting it again tonight on BBC2, YAY! cheers, misty | 2011-09-10 18:19:00 Author: Mother-Misty Posts: 574 |
I watched it last night but it was kinda bleh. I don't like Jimmy Carr or Sandi Toksvig, Alan and Lee Mack were alright though. | 2011-09-10 18:43:00 Author: Ayneh Posts: 2454 |
Grr.... missed it But it seems like they are broadcasting it again tonight on BBC2, YAY! Yeah, it's the extended repeat (~45 mins. IIRC). There's also a documentary about QI immediately afterwards. I watched it last night but it was kinda bleh. I don't like Jimmy Carr or Sandi Toksvig, Alan and Lee Mack were alright though. Neat thing about QI is it doesn't matter too much about the guests, cos Alan Davies is always in it, and Stephen Fry + Alan Davies = win. | 2011-09-10 19:07:00 Author: Aya042 Posts: 2870 |
Neat thing about QI is it doesn't matter too much about the guests, cos Alan Davies is always in it, and Stephen Fry + Alan Davies = win. True that, it's just Sandi and Carr are annoying. Another guest that's also really annoying is Rob Brydon. Top guests: Bill Bailey Rich Hall Jack Dee Dara O'Brian Clive Anderson Jo Brand That American guy with glasses who showed up once and didn't say much David Mitchell Sean Locke is ok most of the time | 2011-09-10 20:05:00 Author: Ayneh Posts: 2454 |
True that, it's just Sandi and Carr are annoying. Another guest that's also really annoying is Rob Brydon. I don't mind Sandi that much, but I'm not so keen on Carr or Brydon. Top guests: Bill Bailey Rich Hall Jack Dee Dara O'Brian Clive Anderson Jo Brand That American guy with glasses who showed up once and didn't say much David Mitchell Sean Locke is ok most of the time Mostly agree (particularly Bill Bailey). I'd also include: Eddie Izzard, Rory McGrath, John Sessions, and Reginald D. Hunter. Presumably the American guy is John Hodgman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Hodgman)? Edit: Looks like you'll be happier with next week's. It's Bill Bailey, Jack Dee, and David Mitchell. | 2011-09-10 22:30:00 Author: Aya042 Posts: 2870 |
Darn, didn't know about this. I adore QI, so I'd have made it a priority if I had known. ...To BBC iPlayer tomorrow, my PS3 isn't just an LBP box! | 2011-09-10 22:35:00 Author: Vector-Espio-Fan Posts: 119 |
Reginald D. Hunter is brilliant, love to him on. And I don't mind Sandi either, she's actually funny enough (sometimes). Worst? I'd say Chris Addison and Sue Perkins. If you know who they are, you'll know how annoying they are. | 2011-09-11 10:38:00 Author: talbot-trembler Posts: 1114 |
I watched it last night but it was kinda bleh. I don't like Jimmy Carr or Sandi Toksvig, Alan and Lee Mack were alright though. I learnt many things I didn't know before... like the difference between Aye Sir, and Aye Aye Sir. I didn't know there was type of Sloth called an Ai. And I didn't know that "Ye Olde Pubbe" would be pronouced "The Old Pub". But yeah, Sandy Togsvik is an annoying little troll | 2011-09-11 11:11:00 Author: Macnme Posts: 1970 |
And I didn't know that "Ye Olde Pubbe" would be pronouced "The Old Pub". Ah. That one I did know. The written form of english has changed a lot more than its pronunciation over the years, like when the letter 's' used to be written more like an 'f'. But yeah, Sandy Togsvik is an annoying little troll Takes one to know one. Sorry, that was too perfect a feed line to ignore. | 2011-09-11 17:59:00 Author: Aya042 Posts: 2870 |
Takes one to know one. Sorry, that was too perfect a feed line to ignore. Yup, should've seen that one coming. Only, I'm not little | 2011-09-11 18:15:00 Author: Macnme Posts: 1970 |

It's Bill Bailey, Jack Dee, and David Mitchell. Can it get any better~ Worst? I'd say Chris Addison and Sue Perkins. If you know who they are, you'll know how annoying they are. I think... they were so mediocre I just forgot they even made an appearance on QI... | 2011-09-11 18:35:00 Author: Ayneh Posts: 2454 |
I actually really like Jimmy carr on QI (and in general). Surely I'm not the only one? | 2011-09-11 18:47:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |
I actually really like Jimmy carr on QI (and in general). Surely I'm not the only one? I don't know. Jimmy Carr is better at the pre-prepared one liners, but I don't think he's much of a 'wit'. Certainly not compared with David Mitchell, or Sean Lock. But he has such a huge collection of one-liners, that he's got one for just about any occasion. But I quite like Jimmy Carr. My least favourite would be Alan Davies - all he ever does is physically act out the funny things that other people say - he rarely comes up with anything funny on his own. & he's in EVERY episode! | 2011-09-11 20:14:00 Author: Macnme Posts: 1970 |
Seems like someone has put all the panellist names and episode titles up on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QI_(I_series)). There's no source so I don't know how reliable it is. Worst? I'd say Chris Addison and Sue Perkins. If you know who they are, you'll know how annoying they are. If the wiki article is right, those two are back for this series. So is Clive Anderson; I've never liked him. | 2011-09-11 21:42:00 Author: Rhys125 Posts: 841 |
Clive Anderson is what I would call a "wit". he's especially good at put downs. I just watched the "Making of QI" last night - and was surprised to learn that Stephen Fry doesn't know as much as he seems to know - most of his knowledge comes from his ear-piece/auto-Q and rehearsal. Though I do know that he says he has a photographic memory - which includes books. So he is very smart - but not as smart as he appears. It's like learning that Santa isn't real! | 2011-09-12 10:16:00 Author: Macnme Posts: 1970 |

Saw it too, kinda ruined the "magic" for me... He's still smart anyway, just not that smart. | 2011-09-12 21:28:00 Author: talbot-trembler Posts: 1114 |
Watched last week's episode only recently and enjoyed it, guests make all the difference! Also moustache. https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/s320x320/298242_195140750554643_195113290557389_433198_2133 441763_n.jpg | 2011-09-22 16:51:00 Author: Ayneh Posts: 2454 |
