Music Theory 101
Archive: 10 posts
Hey folks! So I've gotten a lot of request from random sackpeople asking me to teach them how to dougie make music on LBP So I thought I could make a series of levels teaching the basic fundamentals of music (notation, time/key signatures, scales, etc,.) I just really want some feedback on this idea and whether on not it would be a good idea to go on with it? What say you? | 2011-09-07 18:02:00 Author: comishguy67 Posts: 849 |
That would be great! I've created a few piece using YouTube tutorials (Piano music - Note for note). So being able to see how the technical side of LBP music sequencer from a master like you would be fantastic. From whats been told, I already have a natural ear for music :Smug:, so making my own is something I've longed to do. | 2011-09-07 18:06:00 Author: Nurolight Posts: 918 |
Sounds cool. Would be nice to have something to refer people to when they have a question (musically) like with compher and his tutorials. If you need any basic rhythms or song types I would be more than willing to help. | 2011-09-07 21:57:00 Author: bmoney2310 Posts: 187 |
I think a lot of people would be interested in this as it would benefit the entire LBP community, we always wanna customize the game, but there are some who cannot understand the music sequencer, so creating tutorials on music would very beneficial | 2011-09-08 10:49:00 Author: Robmandx Posts: 515 |

I like this idea. I sort of wanted to make my own music for my rpg, because i think writing the story, i develop music in my head but i do not really know how to mess with the music sequencer. I pretty much gave up after hearing Foofs Tunes lol. A music tutorial i think is a great idea! | 2011-09-09 03:19:00 Author: Rpg Maker Posts: 877 |

Great! I think I will start on this soon after I finish a few other LBP/real life projects I'm working on. Also, It would help me out a lot if I had suggestions to what I should cover. So Far I have: Music Basics (Rhythm, Harmony, melody, sturcture, form, etc) Time Signatures, meters, tempo, Notation, Scales and Key signatures I plan to put all this into 4 different categories. But if there is something particular you'd like me to cover (something you have trouble with/are curious about), post them here and if I can I will add to the level. | 2011-09-09 21:57:00 Author: comishguy67 Posts: 849 |
If I were you I'd make your own tutorial, like lbp2torials, but for music, you'd gain a lot of popularity from it guarenteed | 2011-09-10 13:17:00 Author: Robmandx Posts: 515 |
Dont bother, learning music is a time thing. Practice makes perfect. I had already thought about a project like this for the beta, but then realised how long it would take to describe the many basics in writing a song. If I were you, just give them a keysignature/scale tutorial. It might stop people creating awful off pitch tunes, using D#, F# in a cmajor scale... ahh the tri-tone | 2011-09-10 13:42:00 Author: Unknown User |
