How do u make a flying object move around on its own?

Archive: 3 posts

ok so i wanted to make a flying floating pacman, he works perfect but i want pacman to fly around naturally like a creature would if it ignores a player, i added a brain but it seems that it only effects horizontal movement if it has a weel and jump (but i want pac-men to float around) is there any way to do this?2011-09-07 13:13:00

You could use tags and followers; Set a bunch of tags around -Key- places within the area you want Pacman to patrol. Then set a few followers on a microchip within Pacman, each set to follow -one- of these "Key" tags in the air. Then, you can place down a Selector within the same chip (with as many ports as Tags/Followers), and wire each port to the corresponding Follower in whatever order you prefer. Then, pull out some Tag sensors and put them somewhere within the same microchip, each of them set to look for one of each of your Tags, and have the sensors have a small radius range. Then, make the tag sensors be the triggers for the selector, wiring the first tag sensor to the second port of the selector, the second sensor to the third port, and so on and so forth. If done right (and I didn't make any mistakes myself trying to explain <_<) what should happen is the following:

Pacman sees a tag, and will move right to it. When the tag sensor for that tag sees it, it will automatically set Pacman to look for the second tag, and so on.

There's probably a simpler way to do it, but I'm slow thinking on logic and am not on my PS3 right now D: so apologies in advance if it actually doesn't work >_>

You could use a randomiser, some signal combiners/splitters and an advanced mover to give you some random creature movement, if that's what you're after. Then put a rocket rotator on pac-man , to make sure he's always looking in the direction he's going. You could always throw a couple of in/out movers too if you wanted. However, this wont give you true random movement because, for some odd reason, the randomisers seem to pick a random pattern and then repeat that same pattern each time you play.2011-09-07 19:24:00
