Well... I don't know what to say, on one hand...

******* it. I already disliked the 3DS, but this CAN'T end well. Atleast the 3DS was semi-different, this is just an awkward N-gage/Xbox controller hybrid!

Nintendo, its YOU that's keeping me away... you. This solidifies my decision.

Dang that dosent look good at all lol looks like it makes it too big it reminds me of sega game gear for how big it looks and also they thought of the 2nd circle pad now lol I'm guessing they thought of it from ps vita cause they they have 2 analog sticks.2011-09-07 13:42:00

It DOES make it look uglier and defiantly bigger.
I mean, I like the idea and all, but I don't really see the DS as having a second analogue stick.
I own a 3DS, and as of now, not really impressed.
Guess I'll have to wait for those good games to actually come out,
but don't ever plan on using this, it's probably like 60 bucks anyways.

I'm beginning to suspect that Nintendo have bought shares in Apple and Sony, and this is all a ploy to destroy the 3DS from within in order to make the Iphone & PSVita look more appealing.

The only games I'm even half interested in are the likes of Star Fox (which I played to death on the N64) - Zelda OoT (also played to death on N64), Metal Gear Solid 3 (played to death on PS2) etc.

Maybe once the proper Mario titles come out for it, it'll really show off what the 3DS can do. But they really should have been release titles.
But yeah, I've even given my 3DS on loan to my brother, because there's just no games out for it.

Nintendo are just DYING to have their machine panned, aren't they? If they know the 3DS is already doing badly, why did they let this happen? Honestly.2011-09-08 17:10:00

Egad! That looks horrible!

Nintendo makes it seem like they didn't even finish the system. I mean really? I'm struggling to get the enjoyment out of mine because it's battery life is so low compared to the original DS systems. Now they have the nerve to make a second circle pad? Just a few months after release? Bravo Nintendo. Bravo...

Idk...I'd buy it =/ lol
It might be ugly and clunky looking but the idea of having a extra analog stick is pretty cool. Maybe they'll do one for the Vita to have a 3rd analog stick =D

And it will go on and on and on, then we have a million joysticks, W00P!
There will be one for everyone.

I don't get why you people give the 3DS such a bad rep. It's a powerful and amazing little handheld that does what no other has done (I'm looking at you, PSP).

Yes this attachment looks like garbage. Will it function well? It's hard to say. Should it have been included in the first place? It definitely should have. Does it make it any less of a console? No! It just means that there's now more options. If you want a second stick, buy this crappy attachment...but no one is forcing you to.

There are brightness settings and power-saver mode for a reason. My 3DS lasted 10+ hours during my cross-country move.

10+ hours? I'm skeptical on that. On average it lasts 3-5 hours (or 8 at max since it's been confirmed from tests) I'll have you know even with my 3DS settings on it's lowest settings (everything disabled pretty much) and while playing a regular DS game, I can at max get 8 hours. I say unless you're using that Nyko Battery pack, you can't possibly get those results.

I'm being honest, the shortened battery was a pretty big drawback. This extra control stick looks like it'll give the 3DS more bulk. Haven't we grown out of the "attachments for our handhelds" age?

You can be as skeptical as you want, I played Ocarina of Time 3D, with the 3D slider on full, for roughly 10 hours, with the stock battery pack.

Even if your max is 8 hours...do you really need it to last longer? If you have time and/or desire to squeeze 8+ hours of 3DS gameplay into a normal day, you need to get a new hobby.

...just saying.

I wasn't hating, I was merely remarking on the PSP's shortcomings and unoriginality. I own both handhelds and was simply comparing the two.

if I'm reading you right.
your being a bit rude. it's not really your business how many hours a day a person
wants to play a game for. even if a person wanted to play a game for 30 plus hours without rest,
then they can if they want. I've done it a small handful of times myself~ *mew

You're right, it's not my business...but I wasn't giving an opinion, I merely stated a fact. It's not about how many hours someone wants to play a game, it's actually going through with it that we're talking about here. There are much better things you could be doing in the better part of 30 hours than playing the same game, non-stop.

Playing games for 30 hours straight all the time is one of the many reasons why a high percentage of America is morbidly obese.

I'm skinny and I rarely leave the house.
and it's not a fact. what people do with their time of day don't matter.
I'll so called waste my life on games if I want to. and I'm just fine with that.
it's not a waste of a life, long as the person live happily and did not hurt others in order to get their happiness.
then it's all cool. there is never better things you can do with your life. there is only what you think
is the best things you can do in your life. people can tell you all they want how they think you should live.
but no matter what anyone says, no one is right. in any case how you pick to live your life
will be at least at the time the right way to live in that person's opinion. *mew

Figured as much, Nintendo love doing stuff like this. I'm sure the Nintendo 3DSi lite will have the second pad built in. And will probably be out right after this attatchment.

Not hating on Nintendo, I'm a Nintendo/Sony guy. I've had all iterations of the Gameboy, and have a DSi, yet I've never had a PSP. I only hate on Micro$oft... And I do have a 360... that collects dust.

Irrelevant. At no point did I state that you personally were overweight.

I'll so called waste my life on games if I want to.

it's not a waste of a life
These statements directly contradict eachother.

Yes, happiness is important. But you also have to think of what you have (or have not) accomplished in your life. If you contemplate these things, depending on what kind of person you are, happiness will begin to decay. A so-called "mid-life crisis" is the climax of this rapid decay, and can sometimes result in tragedy.

No, not at all. I was showing a point. others can tell you they think you are wasteing your life.
That's why I said "So called wasting my life" because others may think I am. when IMO I'm not.

accomplishments mean only what you what them to be.
like I said. One should do what he believes to live is the best way to do so.
and what others believe is important may not be what you think is important.
nothing is in fact meaningful. things only have the meaning and importance we put in them.

Edit: as I don't like making to many off topic posts.

whats the point of having done anything in life, if you just die at the end of it?
On a more serious note,
Indeed. Even if you believe in the after life like me.
(don't comment about that part if you disagree, I'm not trying to start that kind o debate here.)
don't mean we should aim while in life at goals other people try to set out for us.
Life's goal is pretty close to whatever you pick them out to be for the most part.

I beleive that there is no ultimate goal in life, other than to do what makes one happy. I mean, whats the point of having done anything in life, if you just die at the end of it? But besides that point, what would be my major acomplishments in life? Defeating the end boss.

On a more serious note, one thing I truly want to accomplish is to make games myself, I can just imagine the huge worlds and stories in my head coming to playable life. Games are as much a waste of time as anything else in life.

yup, and that's my point. What I think is meaningful or not, may not be what others think matters or not.
because we all see what is meaningful in whatever ways we want.
but yes I"m not trying to change you or anyone's views on life really.
(Just would like for everyone to be little more Considerate of other people's ways of life.)
So I'll stop commenting about this already. don't want to start real trouble. at least I try not to. *mew

Monster Hunter 3G won't be the only game to support this add-on.
..It's like they forcing me to wait for Super Nintendo 3DSi Lite Turbo Hyper Edition instead of getting just 3DS. :I
I had plans about getting 3DS thanks to it's price drop but this just flips the table.

Sorry for driving this thread OT, but Nintendo has been doing troublesome things as of late IMO.
Why all of a sudden are they making a new circle pad? Wasn't the 3DS design complete in the first place? I mean there is a huge amount of space just under the XYAB buttons...

Of course 1 analog stick is better than none, but why didn't they learn with the PSP? 1 stick just isn't enough if you want your console to play a larger variety of games requiring manual camera manipulation. And now they release this giant cumbersome thing that's obviously not much into the spirit of a portable device you can just put in your pocket and take anywhere. It seems Nintendo's reputation with useless/retarded/impractical peripherals will continue.2011-09-13 16:23:00

I didn't mean to offend you, and perhaps I could've worded it a little more delicately, but the 3DS isn't something you should be playing for that long anyway. You need to take breaks while gaming on a normal device, and this is even more true for the 3DS.

In regards to the 3DS being complete: It was released complete. This is called an add-on for a reason. Would you argue that the PS3 wasn't complete because it didn't come out with Move right away? Or the Xbox 360 with Kinect (even though it released years after the console)?

The 3DS was "complete" the moment it hit store shelves. This is an optional add-on, and if you don't want it, you don't need to get it.

Its still a bit enigmatic... it looks like it might become bigger than just that!

I believe the story, is Ninty made it, but only because Capcom pressured them with Monster Hunter... which is a MAJOR franchise in Japan. I'd even say the biggest at the moment.

I doubt thats the real product, they would atleast make the other analog match the one on the system and probably wouldn't make it a "cradle" considering it wouldn't fit in the little charging unit they have included with the system. However if this was it but had a built in battery so you could doubt the battery life, i'd buy it.

And to all the psp vita fanboys flooding in, it says "3DS" in the title, keep to topic.

Its been confirmed by Nintendo, and it was showcased at Nintendo's TGS-esque event a week or so ago.

Hell, its been confirmed several developers have access to it, so this isn't just MH anymore ._.

Sheesh!
You buy the 3DS early - the only game I was remotely interested in was Metal Gear Solid 3;
And now I find out I'm going to have to buy an additional peripheral in order to play it properly?

They must have recognised the need for a 2nd analogue from the beginning?!

Poor show Nintendo - poor show indeed!
