The Bunker!! OMFG that wheel!!!!!
Archive: 76 posts
Took me at least 20 attempts at The Bunker last night to get through it. I managed to get to the giant wheel thing no problem but from then on it was a nightmare. The worst part was the last bit of the wheel where you have to jump on those platforms. I thought I'd never do it!! Thank god now I have I'll never have to play that level again!!!!! | 2008-12-22 14:53:00 Author: Unknown User |
Quite. It was hard to ace. But I CAN'T tell you how satisfying it was to FINALLY ace it- but if I died on that last conveyor belt after acing the wheel... Oh, I can't TELL you how angry I'd be! At least I 100% EVERYTHING Wilderness, and just need a few more prize Bubless till I 100% STory Mode- MGS levels are coming tomorrow though, so... :/ | 2008-12-22 14:55:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |
I thought I'd never do it!! Thank god now I have I'll never have to play that level again!!!!! ... unless you want to ace the level XD I agree though, that thing is incredibly unforgiving. Attempting to finish with any more than a single player is suicide. I didn't bother to count how many attempts I had, I just know I always died at that final stretch with the tiny platforms. | 2008-12-22 14:58:00 Author: Gilgamesh Posts: 2536 |
I wonder if anyone below the age of 8 finished that level... | 2008-12-22 15:11:00 Author: Unknown User |
I wonder if anyone below the age of 8 finished that level... I doubt it's *that* difficult. I remember finishing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the NES around that age, and that game is much tougher and unforgiving than LBP | 2008-12-22 15:19:00 Author: Gilgamesh Posts: 2536 |
TMNT for the old NES.......i still have mightmares about that one! | 2008-12-22 15:24:00 Author: UltraNative Posts: 59 |
I wonder if anyone below the age of 8 finished that level... Makes me think of the 9 years old kid playing Trough fire and flames on guitar hero. | 2008-12-22 15:50:00 Author: [OGM]CrAcKhEaD Posts: 26 |
There's a bit at the very end of the final conveyor (which is right in front of the scoreboard), at the little gap that the treads are being emitted from, where if you walk too far you get killed by a tiny amount of black gas. This happened to me the first time I got past the wheel without dying. | 2008-12-22 16:24:00 Author: isthiswhereiputm Posts: 57 |
I aced it first time. But I was on with a friend and he died... | 2008-12-22 18:12:00 Author: moleynator Posts: 2914 |
I'll give a cookie to anyone who aces The Bunker with 4 players. | 2008-12-22 18:19:00 Author: Unknown User |
I'll give a cookie to anyone who aces The Bunker with 4 players. I finished it with three. They really sucked and dont even own the game. Does that count? | 2008-12-22 18:23:00 Author: moleynator Posts: 2914 |
TMNT on the NES was the first video game I ever owned, and the first one I beat. Technically I also owned Super Mario Bros at the same time, but I wasn't interested until I'd beaten the Turtles, I was a stupidly big fan! Still, Bunker, whell, OMG, difficult. I don't think I have the kind of patience that is required to ace that level. | 2008-12-22 18:54:00 Author: flakmagnet Posts: 1084 |

I must be the only one who aced that level on the wheel part on the first try. I might have played through the level a couple of times to get all the items. When the time came to try to attempt to ace it I knew it would be hard. I died maybe five times before I got to the wheel at all. Then I got to the wheel and friggin made it through and also aced it. | 2008-12-22 20:07:00 Author: BasketSnake Posts: 2391 |

I finished it first try along with all the wedding, savannah and first step levels on first try all the others I have tried at least 4 times, some I have managed (Like the first two in the city with mags and the two first ones in the islands with that cloud chick) and all the others I have failed epicly | 2008-12-23 01:55:00 Author: LittleBigGamer Posts: 48 |

This level is pretty easy when you get the hang of it. Just remember to stay at the left side of the wheel when you're at the last part of the wheel, because then you can jump real high! | 2008-12-23 03:08:00 Author: qrtda235566 Posts: 3664 |

I still haven't cleared it. The last section of the wheel is a pain. The rest of the level is too. It's just very unforgiving for people that want to stop and think, as many of the obstacles require you to constantly move or it will kill you. | 2008-12-23 10:49:00 Author: Elbee23 Posts: 1280 |
Listen to this one: I make it to the wheel and clear it. I jump down and LAND ON TOP OF THE ELECTRIFIED LIGHT TO THE LEFT!!! This just happened 5 minutes ago and I thought I would smash my controller to pieces lol. Oh well, here I go again. | 2008-12-23 11:36:00 Author: OCK Posts: 1536 |
I've never been so scared in my entire life as when I did the last part of that godforsaken wheel. | 2008-12-23 11:40:00 Author: BasketSnake Posts: 2391 |
YEEEEEEEEAHHH!! I aced the collector's lair AND the bunker in the same day. My heart was racing LOL!!!!! | 2008-12-24 03:03:00 Author: DRT99 Posts: 431 |
It was a miracle that time I went through it with both lag and no lives left in the checkpoint. | 2008-12-24 14:49:00 Author: neonrage0 Posts: 284 |
Hey, now I find the giant wheel easy! | 2008-12-25 00:23:00 Author: DRT99 Posts: 431 |
Aced it a couple of hours ago. That wasn't so bad after all | 2008-12-25 06:11:00 Author: OCK Posts: 1536 |

This just happened 5 minutes ago and I thought I would smash my controller to pieces lol. Oh well, here I go again. I did the exact same thing. Then, when I got to the end of the conveyor, I jumped and ended up landing on the other light... Thankfully I wasn't really trying to ace it, just get 100% O_o | 2008-12-25 12:47:00 Author: GangsterGarfield Posts: 63 |
Some people just can't admit the word "Challenge" It's fair too, since it isn't completely set up to kill you no matter what, fruit don't fall from the sky or anything... | 2008-12-26 09:21:00 Author: neonrage0 Posts: 284 |
Some people just can't admit the word "Challenge" It's fair too, since it isn't completely set up to kill you no matter what, fruit don't fall from the sky or anything... I disagree with this "fair" notion. There are multiple times in that level where if you stand still, you die. If you don't keep jumping in a very precise way, you die. Although you could argue that it's uniform in the way it kills you, I really don't like this "move or die" concept, and don't find it "fair" as we don't all have the same level of reflexes. Although I agree that it's a challenge, and not an impossible one, I still disagree with the notion of "fair". | 2008-12-26 09:38:00 Author: Elbee23 Posts: 1280 |

...Not to brag, but the wheel didn't even kill me once when attempting to Ace it. o_O Hey, it'll be cake for me too when I'm attempting to try. I'm used to the wheel now. Errr... not to brag either. | 2008-12-26 15:46:00 Author: neonrage0 Posts: 284 |
I find 'Fair' to only be sitable of discribing this level IN CERTAIN AREAS. The level is OVERALL fair, and nowhere near Impossible to ace. Though parts some might find 'unfair' are the 'move or die' locations, though they are few and (mostly) far between. The four smaller rotating wheels are each a small 'MoD' scenario, with the two tank wheels being slightly larger. The first conveyor belt is a medium sized MoD, while the Giant wheel Is a Medium MoD, and the Second Conveyor is a Small one. Basically, the only troublesome MoD is the end, the Giant wheel and the conveyor, where you don't get a pause at all. I'ts tricky, definitely not hard. Just keep you'r nerves and keep Moving so you won't be Dying. MoD is Move or Die, for those of you who can't tell | 2008-12-27 03:02:00 Author: DRT99 Posts: 431 |
Im on my 17th try and I still cant get through the last part of the wheel. Its so annoying! | 2008-12-29 02:11:00 Author: xXRocketManXx Posts: 1 |

Oh I hate the wheel, I get to the second checkpoint but never past the electrified bars that you are supposed to jump over. I hate it, still haven't beaten it. | 2008-12-31 19:41:00 Author: Joel-ROX Posts: 3 |
Well, I finally beat the giant wheel. I got to the conveyor belt that's underneath it. ... ... ... ... ... ... ... Well, I never did say I finished the level. But it is actually possible to beat that wheel, at least once in one's life time apparently. | 2008-12-31 21:08:00 Author: Elbee23 Posts: 1280 |
Yep, the wheel has got me aswell i'm sure i will get it eventually though then i have to ace it though... | 2008-12-31 23:40:00 Author: Unknown User |
The wheel is the easy part. The hard part is going from the wheel to the conveyor without a chance to give my poor heart a break. | 2009-01-01 00:33:00 Author: DRT99 Posts: 431 |
oh great, the thought of it being harder fills my heart with joy (do sackpeople have hearts?lol) ah well, i love the game though, so i will persevere and i WILL win i hope... | 2009-01-01 00:37:00 Author: Unknown User |
I actually find the wheel pretty easy now... 20% of the time - but I keep foiling either before it or at the very end | 2009-01-01 02:04:00 Author: gripper92 Posts: 38 |
like I said, wheel = easy | 2009-01-01 02:58:00 Author: DRT99 Posts: 431 |
Yay, i just finished the level | 2009-01-01 21:28:00 Author: Unknown User |
i know the wheel thing is hard but i finally beat after 3 days | 2009-01-01 23:56:00 Author: hiyo38 Posts: 20 |
The wheel isn't too bad, you can skip half of it just by grabbing the ceiling. The hard part for me is the moving belt afterwards with the electrified spotlights... I have a lot of trouble jumping over those for some reason. | 2009-01-02 00:20:00 Author: Foofles Posts: 2278 |
I hated the Bunker level. It was much harder than all the other levels, including the final level. I was glad when I finally got past the wheel. I don't even care about acing it! | 2009-01-02 13:02:00 Author: Unknown User |
I've aced the bunker a few times but the first time was frustrating and a relief to complete. | 2009-01-02 13:41:00 Author: Unknown User |
The conveyor after the wheel is hard for three reasons: It's right after the wheel, so if you haven't died so far, so the suspense is killing you. It's right after the wheel, and you don't get a break in between. This conveyor is harder than the first one, because it's going in the opposite direction. Therefore you need to get more speed up to jump over the spinning rollers, and you land closer to them. The spike machines are also closer calls. | 2009-01-02 17:03:00 Author: DRT99 Posts: 431 |
hahaha i ACED the bunker on my second try, (but this was after doing the rest of the level, not trying to ACE it like 10 times, and then waiting a day or 2 before attempting to ACE it) Cheers! | 2009-01-03 08:25:00 Author: RAINFIRE Posts: 1101 |
I never had any trouble acing the level either. I messed up twice, both times on the conveyor belt with the circle things you need to jump over. I only died a couple of times on the wheel on my first playthrough. The only remotely difficult part of the wheel is the very end, when you're at the outer rim, and even that isn't too difficult - you can even stay on the rim instead of the platforms in the end and jump over the electrified parts, so it doesn't matter if you're not able to stay on all of the platforms. | 2009-01-03 11:41:00 Author: Linque Posts: 607 |
Well, I finally beat the wheel AND the level as a whole. I just tried to stay very calm after getting through the wheel again. But that is not an easy thing to do, especially if you have died so many times in this level as a whole and in the big wheel specificially. So now I'm up to the Lair. It's nice to have new MM content, it certainly changes the pace. It's hard, but it hasn't been too cheap so far, at least not wheel level cheap near the end. I still haven't finished it though, but progress is happening. So for all those who haven't passed it yet, don't give up! Watch some play through videos on You Tube to see that it's possible and get a sense of the timing of the jumps without playing it, and remember when you finally clear the wheel, take a big breath and remain calm. | 2009-01-03 17:41:00 Author: Elbee23 Posts: 1280 |
I also had a lot of problems with that wheel.. the steel wheel of dead lol xD but after 5 days or so I finally beat it! | 2009-01-03 21:21:00 Author: SmallLargeEarthling Posts: 29 |
I beat the wheel on only my 3rd go and aced it on my 4th | 2009-01-03 21:42:00 Author: S-A-S--G-U-N-R Posts: 1606 |
The wheel is easy if you die when the checkpoint is going up the left side... walk on the roof, past all the platforms and then stand on the side of one of the platforms before it rotates to the right so you don't fall back. | 2009-01-03 22:01:00 Author: DrMelon Posts: 51 |
It took me a while to beat the level, but after getting the rythm, it only took half as long to ace it. | 2009-01-10 19:43:00 Author: Sackdragon Posts: 427 |
I found the wheel to be as bad as described by my fluffy predeccesors, and it took me about 6-8 retries to get it. After what the wheel was, the converyor belt was a piece of cake. You just gotta manage the rate at which you walk and you'll be fine. But no, I'm not going back there again. | 2009-01-18 04:18:00 Author: Astrosimi Posts: 2046 |

The first time I aced the wheel (it was the first time I attempted to ace the wheel too!) I died on the first electric light on the conveyor belt. Oh the misery! It took me a while after that to finally ace it completely, but the feeling of success was great. I only have The Collector's Lair to 100% now (aced them all, 100%'d everything else), but silly LBP won't ever properly let people join as I stand around the starting point, ugh. I get the message telling me people are joining my game... but then they never appear, and sooner or later they just leave. :/ | 2009-01-18 06:31:00 Author: Boo! Posts: 33 |
hahaha i ACED the bunker on my second try, Me too. Maybe I just got lucky? | 2009-01-18 17:38:00 Author: aer0blue Posts: 1603 |
I know it's not the Bunker, but I just redid the Collector for the fun of it, and I managed to ace it in one shot that time :/. ... =D | 2009-01-18 17:40:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |
Lol I played through that with 4 people. It was freaking hard. The more people you play with on the wheel, the harder it gets. Especially online with lag. | 2009-01-19 16:15:00 Author: S-A-S--G-U-N-R Posts: 1606 |
The wheel didn't bother me... it was all the crap beforehand that got to me. I probably had to retry about 10 times before I even got to the wheel while trying to ace it... once I got the part before the wheel down, I got past the wheel w/o dying on the second try. Honestly, I think the Collector's Lair was harder... the part after the doggy that triggers the openings for stickers, there are moving platforms with electricity below you; that stuff really irked me. Anyway, I made sure to spread my attempts at this level out over 4 or 5 days so I didn't sit there all night, frustrated. | 2009-01-19 21:16:00 Author: Comatoes Posts: 76 |
I never really had any trouble with the wheel itself, just everything else. To this day, I don't think I've died on the actual wheel once. It's just a matter of grabbing onto where you can, and taking your time. | 2009-01-19 21:28:00 Author: Ace Posts: 118 |
Ya the wheel was easy but i would always make dumb *** mistakes and it would costme the acing | 2009-01-19 21:56:00 Author: Sonic5411 Posts: 712 |
The Carousel from Hell in the Bunker was annoying as hell, but I did manage to ace that level eventually. However there was another level that, unexpectedly, gave me a real hard time... The Part in Boom town where you need to fly one of those volatile ball explosives through a bunch of moving stalactites... For some reason I kept bumping the **** bomb and frying myself over and over... It should have been a cakewalk after the bunker, but that one also took its sweet time. | 2009-01-20 05:44:00 Author: Morrinn3 Posts: 493 |
Yeah, it was pretty ridiculous. It took me about 4 hours and 12 cigarettes to ace this level. It wasn't so much the wheel itself, it was the way I'd try and rush to it every time I retried and would make stupid mistakes on the easier parts of the level... kept being careless, and then when the wheel would come up I'd have spent too much time redoing the first areas that I'd lost the rythm of of it by then. | 2009-01-20 07:54:00 Author: Unknown User |
Aye, that as well... I kept telling myself to make a line, Mess up before it and I restart the level, mess up after it and I keep going to practice the wheel. However hammering on the restart button at that point had become automatic, so I kept running into the level head first time and time again, Making careless mistakes... | 2009-01-20 09:43:00 Author: Morrinn3 Posts: 493 |

I finally got it and will never return! | 2009-01-21 02:21:00 Author: mrjoeyman Posts: 217 |
Here's a hint for all those who find that wheel hard: Die, then jump on top if the thing, so you are going left. Then jump into a metal platform (A few seconds after getting the prize bubble. Think of the rotor tubes.) and hop off into the pit (You know how each part of the wheel has a wall, run to there and hop down facing left. with a LOT of luck, you'll land on one of those metal platforms. | 2009-01-21 17:10:00 Author: Ninteen45 Posts: 67 |
yeah it took ages for me to complete that level, it was maybe because i was playing with 3 people I could never ace that level. | 2009-01-21 17:53:00 Author: unforgettable_name Posts: 3 |
It wouldn't be nearly half as bad if the level was in reverse... Like the last conveyor belt and wheel were incredibly hard, and you had to go all the way through the level to just fail ^^. I'm never gonna play that level again since I aced it. | 2009-01-21 22:08:00 Author: BizzyBox Posts: 32 |
I doubt it's *that* difficult. I remember finishing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the NES around that age, and that game is much tougher and unforgiving than LBP OMG remember the Electric seaweed at the dam??? that was brutal! and then you get out finally only to be ran over by a stupid snowplow or somthing... then you gotta beat the rest of the game with rafael and he sucked because his reach was rediculously short, like so short he almost couldnt hit anyone without getting hit... | 2009-01-27 03:56:00 Author: Madafaku Posts: 738 |

Without question, the hardest thing to do in the story levels of LBP. I was so chuffed when I finally did it. | 2009-01-27 18:56:00 Author: MrManicMan Posts: 11 |
