Making a portal gun is a pretty big project! I'm not sure that anyone could concisely state everything you'd need for one. It's probably easier to petition Mm and Valve to make a level pack together. The best toy in gaming combined with the best toy box... Digression aside, the first aspect to consider is the act of teleportation itself. Generally that comes in two forms: you can put Sackboy in a controlinator that moves to another location at maximum speed and ejects its passenger or you can destroy a sackbot at one end and emit an identical bot at the other. The bot is probably the easier choice all around. Bot touches an orange surface and is recreated at a blue surface. That's not so bad. But the real magic of portals is the conservation of momentum between them. Fall into a vertical portal at high speed, fly out a horizontal portal and across a gap. That's what it's all about, right? So we can't just destroy your sackbot and plop a copy adjacent to the exit. We need to measure the rate at which the bot is moving and translate that to the new bot in the appropriate direction. Under the circumstances, I'd really have to recommend saving that work for the speed and angle sensors in the upcoming 1.06 update. People have certainly tackled this problem with the current tools, but simply having a couple sensors with analog output that express the bot's horizontal and vertical speed as well as the angle of the portal surface will make this much more doable. Maybe come back to that part in a week or so. Which leaves us with the gun part: emitting a projectile with an impact sensor that attempts to spawn a portal surface when it hits something... or maybe all possible portal locations are secretly planned ahead of time and the projectile merely reveals the one it strikes. That's probably much less work if you're providing very few portal targets. The whole thing isn't so bad aside from translating momentum onto a new bot in a new direction.
