http://lbp.me/v/51mvh- I know its kind of sad but I've never got onto the Cool pages, like a lot of people, and I'd really like it, because then if lots of people play the first part and like it, hopefully they'll stay and enjoy the rest of the series Thank you for your time reading this, it is very appreciated and I hope (if you choose to play it) you enjoy the level and the rest of the series! | 2011-09-04 17:10:00 Author: CheezeBo Posts: 832 |
Okay cheeze, you asked for feedback, here it is: Good points The davinci type theme that you set up at the beginning is nicely done, clean lines and kept to the theme. Use of music suits the mood well for the most part, kicking up a notch when the gameplay begins. This is good ? I hate levels with no music! The end cinematic caught me slightly off guard, but the sackbot acting was well done. Points for improvement Water gun. I would just leave it at that but I'll explain. As you may know, I've played a LOT of levels now, and a LOT of those levels involve a water gun. This isn't necessarily a bad thing in and of itself, but the way that you use it in this level doesn't particularly add to my enjoyment. It becomes more of a chore than a gameplay element. This may just be my personal preference, who knows. The mini cutscene camera on the wreckage at the beginning seemed a little pointless in all honesty. I can already see it, and adding multiple camera angles doesn't reveal anything new to me. It seems to me that the introduction would be better off starting with the Davinci scene, to let the player know what they're doing in the level to begin with, rather than having us feel a little lost until we get to that point. At the first controllinator you have a magic mouth, which activates when I want to get in to the controllinator. Move it, or destroy it. (Also, you say to click R to exit the controls, when actually you need to click L) Overall, this is a decent start. My main issue is that the gameplay itself (the water gun) is really not all that challenging or demanding to me as a player. Standing there for two minutes shooting out water is not my kind of thing. Sorry if this comes across as harsh, but I believe in honesty being the best policy | 2011-09-07 01:17:00 Author: rialrees Posts: 1015 |
Thanks Ria! Sorry it took me so long to get back, been quite busy with homework etc. It's really appreciated though! I must admit this level was kind of a bit 'throw-away'. I had ideas for a long, platformer but then I just really wanted to get it out and then I shrank it quite a bit :/ I think it still introduced the story of the series ok though, so as long as that came across relatively, then its ok | 2011-09-08 06:23:00 Author: CheezeBo Posts: 832 |
