The Mysterious Mines of Misfortune 2 (now with lbp2 updates)

Archive: 11 posts

This level was the last lbp1 level that I published and I published it about one or two weeks after the release of lbp2. Based on that, I decided to make some updates to it using some of the lbp2 goodies. I made very few changes actually but they mainly include using sackbots instead of cutouts and replacing some old logic with new logic including cameras and the sequencer. This level is actually published under a shared psn for me and the_hog_flu and we wanted to publish a few of our old levels under that psn to help promote an upcoming project we are working on called Dark Harvest.

The shared psn is Shookie-hogflu. Anyway, the original level was spotlighted here and I would love it if anyone who never played it gave it a go and if you have played it and wanna give it another go that would be great too. And as always, any feedback would be great and appreciated. Thanks.

this is my other favorite one! Man, I hope I can steal a few minutes to play this today. Queued obviously.
If you guys haven't played this level in LBP1, you are missing out. I strongly advise you to play that level or better yet, this updated to LBP2 version. I remember this level having a good story and excellent game play, and If I know Shookie, then he's ramped it up to be even better, if that's possible.

Thanks dude! Had no clue this was one of your favs from me. I locked the lbp1 version but there is a key for it somewhere.
I wish I had time to make even more changes but honestly there are not too many to note other than sackbots, logic, camera cut scenes, and sequencer. The gameplay really was not altered at all, mainly because I was fairly satisfied with how it all came out the first time. Thanks again bio!

I was able to play this today and got to say this is still one of my favs. It's a very well designed level with some unique gameplay mechanics that will leave you wanting more. The use of lighting and ambient sounds was superbly done and the details in this level are fantastic. I catch myself on levels like this, just stopping and studying the structure, how it's made, and the details so that hopefully something will sink in and help me improve upon my skills. It's the small things in your levels that I really admire. How you have the pipes inset into the wall or rather how the wall is broken away to reveal the pipes. The contraptions that lift you to the next level also are pretty cool. Overall awesome level. I love that the LBP2 upgrades are subtle so that this level can retain its LBP1 charm. outstanding job and no, don't do anything else to it. It's great.2011-09-04 20:41:00

@biorogue, thanks again dude. I've come to realize that decorating a level takes about as much time as building it. it wasn't too bad for this one, but decorating fusion corp was an eternity. Anyway thanks again and don't be too surprised to see the return of detective sack and the dark three sooner than later.

@maxouze, hope you like it and would love to hear what you thought!

Hi,

I really liked your level.
The design of the mine was perfectly done, it really looks like your in there
Every mecanisms you created fitted well with the place and the graphics looked nice.

The boss at the end of the lvl was fun to go through.

Goo job man

Thanks for the feedback! Probably one of my better bosses for sure. I republished it under a joint psn to stir some interest in a project that myself and hogflu are working on called dark harvest so keep your eyes peeled for it.

Other than that I'm working on my lbpc4 level and gonna have to start building my halloween comp level over at lbn.

Thanks again!
