Gyroscopes, Followers and what-not

Hello helpful people of LBPC! I have a problem.

These screenshots show that I want this bounce pad platform to move across with you so actually you never fall on the electricity. I've set the follower to:
Maximum speed-100.0
Allow up-down movement-No
Allow in-out movement-No
Flee rather than follow-No
Acceleration-100%
Trigger radius is appropriate.

The platform keeps up with me fine but upon testing I found that it tilts so I plonked a gyroscope on it & tweaked the settings to:
Rotation Speed-1500
Acceleration-100%
Input action-N/A

After that I thought it was fine but as I move along it still tilts despite a gyroscope.
Any ideas? Please help!!!

On a similar setup I have in one of my levels I attached what would be your platform to a glass rail system. It doesn't even have to be nearby - just parallel to it. Wedge a sheet of glass between rails of glass above and below making them dampened 100%. You can also attach a zero friction tweaker too. Attach the movable piece of glass to your platform. With some invisible holo. Tbh I though your gyro solution would have sorted it but I guess it didn't!2011-09-04 13:53:00

Thanks for the help but I'm not quite sure how you mean with this rail system. If possible, could you post a screenshot of the one in your level?2011-09-04 14:10:00

My guess is friction. Try putting material tweakers on the platform and the floor below, and set friction to 0. If I'm not mistaken, isn't the material the platform is sitting on, a form of rubber?2011-09-04 14:18:00

What happens if you add more than one gyro? Is strength doubled if you add 2 gyroscopes?
Would it help to change the material of the platform for something heavier? or at least, add weight to it?

I've already put no friction on the platform but not the floor so I will do. As for the material, I think it's called something like blue circuit & you might be right in thinking it's rubber. Obviously there'll be friction on the floor-I should of thought of that. The platform however, is 'Toy Plastic' from the new Toy Story DLC pack. Despite being called plastic, it's listed under metal.

I will try your suggestions & post my result.

I'm not sure about that one, although it's worth trying.

I've put a material tweaker on both materials & set them both to:
Friction- 0%
Stickiness-Non-stick

I've also added 2 more gyroscopes so now there's 3 but still tilting. As I type this, I wonder if it's because the gyroscopes are in a microchip but that shouldn't make a difference should it?

EDIT: I've just put a gyroscope on the actual block itself, outside the microchip & no tilting. So putting gyroscopes in a microchip does have an effect.

So problem solved?
Also, the problem with the Gyro on the Microchip might have something to do with the fact your microchip was placed on the left side of your platform, rather than the center. Not sure though.

Perhaps. But it's sorted now which is good.

Thanks to everyone who helped, by the way.

just looking at the pic it looks like your gyro wasnt set straight up and down, being in a microchip makes no difference, nor does the position on the object, i recommend using the angle setting in the start menu when working with gyros as sometimes you can place them at a slight angle without noticing2011-09-04 16:01:00

Yeah I did that & it was fine after.2011-09-04 16:06:00

A cleaner solution might be to replace the gyro (and possibly the material tweaker) with a zero-strength invisible piston connected horizontally between the moving platform and the containing object. A piston used in this way ensures that the platform cannot move beyond the bounds of its own min/max settings, and ensures the platform can never rotate or move at all in the y-axis (as long as the containing object is static).2011-09-04 17:26:00
