Toy Story--Getting 2X Prizes With 1 Player

Archive: 18 posts

Not sure if any of you have tried this, but it's in my nature to see if what appears to be impossible is truly impossible. If you have tried it, let us know. If you haven't tried it, then be assured it is doable.

In the Toy Story Add On Pack, there are two 2X challenges that I was able to complete on my own, as follows.

1. The first 2X was in "Welcome To Toy Town". The challenge was near the beginning, and it was a large framed area with a controllinator that you can draw a staircase with. If you draw the staircase in a straight line, keeping it low enough for Sacky to jump on the first step, you can jump from the top step and get the prizes. This was fairly easy to do IMO.

2. The second 2X, which is significantly more difficult to achieve, and will definitely require you to put your thinking cap on, was in I believe "Escape From Planet Z". In this 2X challenge, there are 2 cranes you move around using the controllinator. The crane on the right pulls a red and white platform down, while the crane on the left picks a red and white platform up. If you were doing the normal 2 player method, you would pull the right platform down about midway, and then pull the left platform up with the 2nd player standing on top of it while moving it close to the right platform. This would allow the 2nd player to jump to it, where you could then move the platform up to where the 3 prizes are.

Doing this alone requires you to move the platforms to different heights. You then jam the left crane's fingers into the left platform to cause it to sit at an angle, and jam the right crane's fingers into the right platform, causing the crane's hand to sit at an angle. The key to making this work is making sure the crane hands and platforms are at different heights, allowing Sacky to jump from one to the other. I actually found this to be very challenging, but most of all it was fun platforming.

I took a picture of me in the 2nd challenge at the top of the structure, and will post it here when my daughter gives my PS3 back . Until I do, which will basically give away how I had to jam everything, try it yourself and see if you can figure out this unintended puzzle.

Have fun.

I pretty much did the same thing. I ran through this pack pretty quickly, aced and 100% in a few hours all by my lonesome. I wish all the packs had been similar to this one, in that I still haven't 100%ed POTC or the Marvel packs. It's those dang x4 areas.2011-09-04 03:27:00

Yeah...I haven't figured out how to do a 4X by myself yet. Maybe if I attach 3 sackbots to my costume...hmmm .2011-09-04 03:59:00

I've done everything in toy story by myself with only 1 controller as always.
i've even posted pics of the 2nd area in the pack.

I normally do x2 or more areas by myself.
in LBP1 and LBP2 I did over half of them.
I like the challenge and some took me hours to complete.
and like you i've even dome some x4 areas by myself too.
and I plan on doing this in the Move pack also in order to get everything.

@ fumetsusozo...where did you post these pictures you are referring to? I would like to see them to compare to what I came up with, and provide a link to them in this thread as well.2011-09-04 15:41:00

and tip for people with only 1 controller like me.
if you change your controller number it'll pop out another sack
for you to move around with, but it'll only stay there for like 10 secs.
you can fix this somewhat by keep changing your controller number
from 1 sack to the other sack to keep them both alive.
in some of the LBP2 story mode levels this was how I got pass them
places that you 100% needed more then 1 person.
also I normally would used the second sack as a tossing tool when they was power-gloves close by,
where I'd jump and toss it in to the bubbles to get the stuff.

I'm not sure I'd say I have awesome jumping powers... but I get around never the less~

Anyways. I'm really looking forward to The move pack.
with me also getting one Move controller soon, meaning I'll only have one Move.
And Still Not being able to join others online right now thanks to my bad net.
I can only hope the x2 areas are possible for to beat alone~

No, I simply own weak internet. "Hughesnet" a Satellite internet.
Satellite Internets are almost worthless if you want to play online games.
So I have to wait until I can find better internet to buy. and because of where I live..
that's not easy. cable and tons of things don't come out where i live~
so I don't know what I'm suppose to even look for or to try out.

I found a other Method for the X2 with the Robot:
you can soar with the hook since the begining of the area.
Look for 0m47 on the video.

The POTC is possible with only one player (as in one player, I mean that you can activate four controllers and control each sackboy by yourself). The button pressing is easy, but after that, it gets pretty complicated. I had a lot of trouble getting all of the prizes in the four player area on the Cursed Bay level (I think). Just try to controll all of your sackboys at the same time (I had to use my hands and feet).

On topic message: The Toy Story x2 puzzles being possible with one player is some great knowledge to have. Thanks!

Thanks for your advice FEAR. I did the multi-controller thing in LBP1 Story Levels--I wound up twisted in a knot on the floor . But we added a second PS3 soon after that, and it's has been much easier with my Wife and Daughter helping.2011-09-16 02:30:00

Sadly The 2 x2 Areas in the MOVE pack are not really possible
by yourself unless you have at least two normal controllers and 1 MOVE.
I was trying with only 1 normal controller and 1 MOVE,
for a long time before I gave up and a friend later got them for me.
MM did pretty good making sure using just 1 normal controller and 1 MOVE would not be good enough. (>.>)

Thanks for the update fumetsusozo. I played one Move Pack level (the pin ball level that requires a very steady hand) to give my wife a break, and it required total focus just to control the action of the ball.2011-09-16 04:07:00
