Sliding Maze

I finally got off my bum and finished a level I started making when I bout the game at launch. It's a sliding block puzzle. Any feedback is helpful it's not fully finished yet I plan on putting a few more challenges in later to make it a bit more interesting, also I need to finish decorating the level. Also you don't have to align the puzzle so you can access each exit at the same time and doing so takes forever. I've added another challenge a picross puzzle to the level there is a level link in my level for a tutorial and you can go here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nonogram) to find out more information on it.

OK so I added a few videos that I took yesterday the first one is a preview of how fast the maze will move when I get around to fixing it as well as a look at what the last puzzle will be like. It's not quite done yet as I need to add some timers and make sure that you can't move the block the ball is in at least.

The second video is just a plain run through of the level to show it off to anyone who was having trouble with it. As you can see even I had a bit of trouble getting to the third room.

I just tried your level.
The benning was cool.
But I had a problem, I did not manage to finish the maze, to honest, it was too slow and it finished to be boring at the end.
You should improve you level by making everything move faster in the maze.
Tell me when it's done.
It'll be a pleasure to try it again.
I'll try your other level.
It's queued up

I've made a few changes to my level, the biggest one is that the cursor to select blocks moves much faster now. I've been able to clear the level a few times without any problems but because I've tested it for so long it only takes me like a minute to solve each maze path so I don't know if excessive moving around of the rooms breaks the level or not. Also I added a little bit dialog near the puzzle area to clear any confusion as what to do. I've changed the icon to the starting configuration of the maze and I've added solution pictures to the level if you look at author pics if you get stuck. The easiest way to get through the maze is to make a path to the top left exit than to the bottom right exit than the bottom left exit.2011-09-06 03:23:00

Just finished playing the level. I love the concept: changing the maze to open various doors. What I had a problem with, though, is figuring out which dots I needed to connect. Once I figured out that the bottom dot actually represented the maze room, I was able to finish it. I was confused for a good 15-20 minutes, and I did have to look at the photos to figure out what you wanted the player to do. Also, some form of scoring would be nice. Yes, it's great to finish the level, but having no form of scoring eliminates the replayability of it. Overall, it's a great concept, great visuals, but a bit confusing.2011-09-08 02:22:00

Okay, I've made some changes to the level. I added some hidden score bubbles and I also added a picross puzzle. I've linked to a tutorial in my level that I made for picross so if you need info on how to solve it use that. I would also recommend checking out the wikipedia article on it here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nonogram).2011-09-12 10:01:00

Queued. Looks interesting, since the concept itself is very common. Will post feedback later!2011-09-12 11:49:00

This level's sliding maze mini-game gave me a massive headache. I never was able to finish it because I'm terrible at these puzzles, so I dare not to blame game itself.
The visuals and idea was fine lookin', but for some reason it lookedl little bland because there was no torches and little bit darkness at the sections where you travel to the puzzle mini-game. The puzzle's logic worked and looked notice, but because of lack of skills to finish I'm ending up with "yay face" because I see couple people have finished it.

The game looked good, and is a very interesting concept. I'm a huge fan of puzzle games, and I think you incorporated the maze nicely. I like that reusing it gives the player multiple challenges.

I did find the maze to be very slow. The movement of the cursor was fine, but the blocks themselves should have been a little snappier in my opinion.

I also got a little lost in the first part. I couldn't find the maze my first try, so I restarted thinking I may need to go over the bridge.

Other than that, it was a really neat game, and a wonderful concept.

Ok... This was not what I was expecting at all! I thought it was going to be a controlinator level throughout. Instead we have something much grander and complex. I gotta say I was slow to pick up on what I was meant to be doing at first (and still not 100% - that being said I only spotted you linked something above and also I didnt do the tutorial you linked at the start of the level... rare levels require much explaining - my fault!)

Its something Ill have to revisit when my brain is a little more switched on!

Some suggestions/observations:
1. Make the bounce pads X activated (this function is ideal for your level!)
2. The help message beside the puzzle controlinator dialog reads to skip the puzzle, use switch on the left, that should be right, right? ^^
3. Put a line in the level description that reads "Brain power required" lol (<--- optional)

Thanks for everyone's feedback, I've made a few changes to the level, namely, making all the bounce pads x activated and fixing the text block to make sure it says right instead. I'm also working on changes to the maze to make it move much faster and will upload a video from my test bed to show how much faster it moves now later, as I will be adding that and the final puzzle to the level at the same time. I've now uploaded some videos for anyone that wants to check them out.2011-09-26 05:16:00
