New Creator Here (To Stay)

Archive: 20 posts

Hey folks!

I'm a 22 year old professional fighter from the sunny state of Arizona. I like to take what free time I have and put it towards creating levels in LBP2. Currently I'm working on an in-depth, top-down RPG with an apocalypse theme.

I'm looking for other creators out there who can put their creative foot forward and assist me with my creations, or I can help out with yours.

I'm looking forward to being a member of this community as I've noticed a lot of talented creators also hang their hats here. So let's get this party started.

Hi zemurdurah. Welcome to LBPC. This is the perfect site for hooking up with creators who share your interests.

Also, when you say "professional fighter", what exactly do you mean? UFC? Boxing? I ask because I am a 3rd Dan in Taekwondo, and have been in Martial Arts, several disciplines, since 1992. Just curious, as I do enjoy a good spar now and then .

Anyway, glad to see you are here to stay, and good luck with your creating.

Thanks for the warm welcome folks! I can already tell this is going to be a great community to be a member of.

Rick, as far as your question goes I'm a professional Mixed Martial Artist. Was a nationally ranked Greco wrestler back in highschool, but due to attitude issues I never went to college for wrestling, which I'm content with. I've done BJJ for roughly 6 years now and Muay Thai since I was a 7, though I had a break in that training for several years during highschool. Boxing had always been a weak point for me so that last two years I've devoted most of my training towards conventional boxing and I've actually become quite good with it. My main strength though is grappling, in any form. It just comes so natural for me. As far as my weight class goes, which is usually the next question I'm asked, I'm a featherweight (so I fight at 145 pounds). I'm a tall featherweight though, so it's all gravy; haha.

It seems we have even more similarities in our backgrounds. I also grapple (Judo and Jujitsu these days), and started that aspect of my training in grade school through college and the military--namely collegiate, greco roman and freestyle wrestling. I know what you mean by it coming naturally. And it was a perfect fit with Taekwondo, Tai Chi and Aikido. I think anyone interested in Martial Arts should experience several different styles to fully appreciate what Martial Arts can do for them both physically and mentally.

Have you done any research in Mental Management techniques--using trigger words and visualization to achieve the perfect mental state before combat? If not, I highly recommend taking the time to learn some of these techniques. There is a lot on information about it on the Internet these days. Good luck with that aspect of your life as well.

Thanks Rick, yeah it sounds like we've got similar backgrounds for sure. In fact, I taught Army combatives (level 1 and 2) for my entire stay in the military. I've looked into some of that stuff but I'm not entirely up to date with it (the mental stuff). I do know that positive attitude and how you feel mentally effects how you preform 95%. I think a great deal of fighting and martial arts is mental strength.

Jww and Wolf, yeah I understand how the forum works pretty well, I've lurked here for a while before deciding I wanted to jump in. I tend to be sure I want to join a community before I actually just hop in. I posted my current project (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=62734-Three-New-Projects-From-a-New-Forum-Member&p=920988#post920988) brainstorms in the Ideas/Projects section if you'd like to take a gander.

I was in the army, I'm out now (I didn't have to go through that whole 8 year of reserves process). While I was in I was a 25v, which was a combat photographer/videographer. I originally was suppose to go to Ranger training but after my 2 years at AiT I lost interest in the additional months of airborne training and ranger training, haha.2011-09-03 03:00:00

cool, I did 10yrs then my first was born and after Bosnia decided I had enough. I was 88m (transportation) licensed for vehicles 80 tons and below. I had a blast though and if it weren't for the service I probably wouldn't be doing what I am now.2011-09-03 03:51:00

Nice. Yeah the service opens quite a few doors depending on which MOS you take. I could have a BA in fine arts with a few more credit hours if I had the time for school, but I'll save that for later in life when my bodies to worn out to do MMA anymore, haha.2011-09-03 04:02:00
