Material idea: Smashable glass ?
Archive: 12 posts
Hey I was having a think of new materals an then thought of smashable glass, glass that smashes into a few shards. What do you guys think ? | 2011-09-02 15:21:00 Author: Unknown User |
And maybe the shards could be like spikes? | 2011-09-02 21:01:00 Author: L1N3R1D3R Posts: 13447 |
If it's something simple I'm sure you can do it with logic. If it's dynamic, physics-based destruction we're talking about here, it might be a good idea. Especially if it's not limited to glass and can be recreated on any material. Not sure if thermo space required would be worth it though. And the more you smashed to bits, the greater the increase of lag would be. | 2011-09-02 22:55:00 Author: SnipySev Posts: 2452 |
Yeah its posdible with the right logic, but for a more realistic feel you know a material would be better | 2011-09-03 18:14:00 Author: Unknown User |
I dont think it would work. | 2011-09-10 23:17:00 Author: NcLc2010 Posts: 72 |
Well, a shattering destroyer anymation would be neat, the shards could be particles with the same texture of the material, no advanced physics and colision to save memory. | 2011-09-10 23:43:00 Author: gdn001 Posts: 5891 |
Oh, and now we have the slice and dice, you can cut an object up without the cuts reducing its size like they did before. You can cut up a glass piece to tiny shards, put a destroyer that makes it all fall apart and you'll have something crumble to bits before disappearing | 2011-09-13 14:35:00 Author: SnipySev Posts: 2452 |
Yeah you could use slice and dice tool to make it i guess but a material would be better hehe | 2011-09-13 19:45:00 Author: Unknown User |
Im like this Idea, but as a destroyer animation. | 2011-09-13 19:46:00 Author: craigmond Posts: 2426 |
Yeah GDN's suggestion would work best, if you look at the old concept videos for the ice hazard i believe it used to shatter and send shards out everywhere, it looked pretty cool IIRC. another destroyer animation could be burning, i dont mean like an explosion, but something gets set on fire and burns away really quickly - this would be fitting since alot of materials in lbp are paper or wood. also i thought bendy materials or objects would be cool, like imagine you had a length of rubber stuck to the wall and when you stood on the end it bent down to the floor. obviously this would put a huge strain on the part of the engine that calculates collision borders, but we live in hope | 2011-09-22 18:09:00 Author: Skalio- Posts: 920 |
Nice ideas skalio, also (nothing to do with this) how hard is it to use paint ? haha I struggle | 2011-09-24 13:53:00 Author: Unknown User |
