Building with limited space on the thermo
Archive: 4 posts
So, I have the start to my new level finished and it's packed with logic. So packed that the thermo is a little over half full. The good news is that little to no logic will be needed for the rest of the level. It is a hide and seek level, and I have not built anything in it except for the start and the ground. I'm concerned that if it gets too full, players will not be able to invite friends to the level or even worse, that I'll simply run out of room. Do you guys have any tips on how to build a level without using up much thermo? | 2011-09-02 07:26:00 Author: Trader347 Posts: 57 |
ok here i go 1. half full is nothing to worry about. The whole "player can't join thing is only for levels that are 75%+ thermo. 2. emition and demition are key for thermo management. emit what you need (if you can, remember too use wireless logic) and demit what you don't (like title screnes) 3. if that doesn't suit you, try and find ways to create the same logic effect w/ less logic. for example: there was a numeracal sensor i was making (HP) and at first (in the beta) it was full of a creep-ton of logic. later in the beta however, i found out that for every 15 logic pieces i had at the time could be replaced with 1 logic piece (yes that would be the selector.) That's pretty much it. Don't worry about it though. | 2011-09-02 08:06:00 Author: a_mailbox Posts: 416 |
I heard that if you copy and item over and over again, it lowers it's space in the thermo. This worked for me unless there was a gate (checkpoint, start gate, scoreboard, ect.) or sackbot on it. | 2011-09-03 04:09:00 Author: cheese7710 Posts: 36 |
Thanks! I actually just changed on object to another that already existed and it brought my thermo down 2.5 bars! I'll keep that in mind while I build the rest of the level. | 2011-09-03 05:10:00 Author: Trader347 Posts: 57 |
