Impossible!

Archive: 11 posts

I can't believe this. Just yesterday, I couldn't make a sequenced song to save my life. But on this fine day of Sept. 1st, 2011, I, LBNinja, have made my first song. I don't understand how I magicly learned how to make a sequenced song, but it's very satisfying, nevertheless! Maybe because I asked Tabycatmeow for help the other day... All I was told was to learn something I still haven't learned yet... Anyway, the song I made is custom, made only by me, and took only a half hour to compose. I plan to make even more songs latet on. I'm psyched! ?2011-09-02 04:41:00

Congrats! Sounds like the mental tumblers have fallen into place. Composing music is a craft, good on you for learning. You also overcame the technical hurdles of getting the sequencer. You'll find the more you do it, the more you'll be able to visualize how all tracks are put together (not just in LBP2, but all electronic music). Keep creatin'! 2011-09-02 04:45:00

Tabycatmeow is a great song maker, not many people better than that to help you.

But, all things in create mode can be overwelming at first, but once it "clicks", it's alllllllllllllllll goooooood

The music sequencer was the first thing I experimented on in this game, since I already know how to play music, and come up wih my own fairly basic songs.

Tell me your secrets!
By the way, do you know anything abut playing music, notes, instruments or don't you need to know about that to compose awesome music sequences? Because I don't know anything about either and all I can extract from my sequencers is acoustic poo.

A background in music will definitely help, but then again, music is like beauty: what "sounds good" depends on the ear of the listener.

@LBNinja: Congrats on your creation!

Good for you.

+1 about Tabycatmeow. She has probably THE best collection of music and the most comprehensive list of songs spread across multiple levels. Great stuff. People should check out her levels if they haven't.

Seconded. I'm not much of a music person and even I enjoyed her jukebox levels. And she gives out the songs as prize, how thoughtful of her.

His face isn't really like that, he's just making a surprised facial expression. It says "impossibru" because that's kind of how the Japanese spell "impossible"

There isn't much to say about secrets... just as tabycatmeow told me, ?I don't carry music in a bucket?... but my best advice is to play around with a base rythm, and build up the song from there, while throwing in some other rythms.

Ah, Ayumu Katou.

I've caught him a few times on TV, he's well known enough and has played host to a variety of show segments, at least he did in 2010. One of the most blatant "god this guy is ugly" bits was when they sent him out on a shrimp boat for a day (along with a cute idol), and they picked through the catch of the day. In the net they happened to pick up an angler fish. One of those deep-sea monsters. He held it up next to his face and the show creators turned it into a graphic/chart of "which is more hideous?"...

Anyway he's a properly funny guy, known mainly for his silly face.
