Scoreboards?

So I know that they have been down for quite a long while and I know why they are down. Does anyone have a clue when they may be back up2011-09-01 17:06:00

When it's not even remotely possible to cheat scores again.
and as MM are trying to make sure of that. even they don't know when
it'll be ready to go back up. so again as always no.
No one at all knows when they'll be back up. and when they are...
it'll be all over every LBP news... So in a way there's no point in asking,
as when we do know at all... everyone will know by then.

@fume: It's still possible to cheat story mode scores with the R:FoM bypass. Community levels are ok though.2011-09-01 17:59:00

I have no idea what "R:FoM bypass" means.
and I'm guessing MM don't care much about their own levels getting cheated much.
plus they can't really do anything about that...
also, when they reset scores those will be fixed too.

Resistance: Fall of Man. Let's you revert your game to 1.00 before many bugs were fixed.
Luckily it won't let you play community levels, at least I think not.

Yeah, most people that cheated maxed out the score making it very obvious it was overlorded. To me thats not cheating since its so far from normal scores.

Well, it was a bit of an over reaction imo. I personally don't care if someone wants to cheat to get 4 million points on one of my levels. Who cares? Everyone will know they cheated, and my level will continue to work fine for other players. No real harm done. They should have jusr left it, banned cheaters, and updated when they had a fix.

Instead, they took them offline and killed most games that might have been played more (such a survival and Vs levels).

To me, it was a poor decision by MM.

^Will you stop saying that they should had banned cheaters already?!
MM don't have the power to ban players. that's Sony's Mods jobs.
and Sony don't care about people cheating scores in LBP.

PS: This topic should be closed.
The OP asked a simple question and got it answered.
the subject of the topic was to not complain at MM for taking the scoreboards down.

It's a tough balancing act. If we say we're not bothered by the cheaters, because we don't care who gets what score, doesn't it stand to reason we shouldn't care that scores are removed?

And if we care that scores are available and recorded at the end of a level, then shouldn't we care much more when players exploit and ruin the achievement curve by ruining the scoreboards?

My view is, if the scoreboards had not been taken down, by now we'd have nothing but 999999999s (or the maximum, I don't recall what it is) making scores useless anyway. If it's about unlocking content in the level, that happens regardless of the scoreboards. I don't mind the glitchers and I don't mind the scoreboards being exploited, but I also don't mind them being down. Actually scratch that - I like them being down, as it's a more proactive solution by the game makers. If they just let it go I'd be bothered that player behavior was being ignored or enabled through neglect. And I'll admit that if my levels were spammed with 99999999s, I'd probably not be bothering to design any more, as I recently started making scores an important part of the level experience.

I'm sure if MM wanted to figure out a way to ban people they could. They can moderate your moon, I'm sure they could lock it completely if they decided to make that function available.

Either way, I'll continue to say what's on my mind. Don't need to be regulated on what I can say about a game. Thanks.
