"Recommend This Level" feature.

Archive: 10 posts

So, let's say you just played a great level. It was so good you not only heart it, but you also want other people to know how great this level is and how they should come and check it out immediately. Currently you have to go send a PM or go to a friend's profile and write "Hey, you should check this level out" or if you want to know what other people like you have to browse their recent activity or hearted levels list.
I think we need a new system for recommendations. A function on the Start menu, saying "Recommend this level!". And then a sub menu could pop up and you'd choose if you want to recommend this to a specific friend, to all the people that hearted you or to all your friends. Then, the recommended level would appear on those persons' Recent Activity feed, they could be added automatically to their Queues, or not at all. This because you could alter the settings regarding recommendations. To avoid spam and abuse of this system, you could choose between receiving other people's recommendations (either in the Recent Activity or the Queue, that could be an option too) or not, just like you can choose if you receive join requests or not. Maybe we could even block a certain person from recommending us stuff if they nagged us too much.

People truly sharing the good experiences in LBP2 = easier for good levels get better recognition = better community.

But.... Do you KNOW how much the "noobs" will use this? It's a good idea, but I thik it will be abused way too much.2011-09-01 16:00:00

That's why I said an option in the settings that would deactivate recommendations altogether or even a way to block individual persons should be included, were this system to be implemented Also, you would only get the recommendations from friends or people you hearted, not just from anyone. Have you hearted or friended any noob? No? Excellent

Great idea dude! Also (since this is about levels) There should be a neutral face to choose, so you thought it was ''ok''2011-09-02 16:28:00

Thanks. About the rating faces... If you want to take a neutral stance you just don't choose any of the faces. You can just continue without rating. If you publish a review without choosing a face you'll see your sackboy's face has a neutral expression.

What I meant is if you already rated it and you want to change to neutral. 2011-09-03 16:22:00

What I meant is if you already rated it and you want to change to neutral.

If you click again on the face you chose, it resets to neutral.

Eh, but even tho you could block the noobs, they'll come back and mess it up again -_-2011-09-05 16:03:00

Eh, but even tho you could block the noobs, they'll come back and mess it up again -_-

And how exactly could they do that? They're blocked, they couldn't recommend any level to that person anymore. Maybe even lose the ability to recommend anything for a time if the system detects their abuse.

And while we're at this, a way of blocking someone off completely from level and profile comment sections would come in handy.

This would indeed improve traffic and the social structure of LBP. I think this is a great idea. Many unrecognized people will finally get the acknowledgement they deserve.2011-09-05 17:12:00
