Sackraider 3 - Apophis's scepter - Part 1

Archive: 35 posts

This level is an adventure one.
A sequel of two levels I created two years ago in LBP1.
I was trying to make Tomb raider parody levels.

I decided to create a sequel to these levels in LBP2.
This is the first level I've created in the game and I hope you'll like it.
I'm actually creating the second part and I hope it will be released doon.

I hope you'll enjoy this level as much as I had fun to create it.
Please tell me what you thought of this.

Thanks all

alright been reviewed, thnx

the level looks amazing, so much deetail and work went into it. the scenery was perfect, it was really fun playing thru it. the only problem i had was the underwater green ball fell off the pedestal and i couldn't pick it up with the boats claw.

alright, i will review your level now.
first off, visuals were great. i really enjoyed seeing all the detail and decoration.
the boat controls didn't work that well, perhaps you would consider revising them?
and it could have been clearer what you were supposed to do at the puzzle part. i was a bit confused.
all in all, a great level though

Looks good - i would suggest i couple of minor things

Recheck your spelling on the 1st 3 magic mouths
hook a counter up to the sequencer for the intro (have the level paused and set it to full when you save) that way when you go into the level the intro will start immediately rather than waiting for the player to spawn

Good work!

Thanks for the review on my level, A Thousand Suns: Decay.

Anyway, your level was really well designed. The sceneary throughout it was amazing. I can tell you put a lot of work to the detail
The gameplay was also fun, however the diving got a little dull. Plus, when I got to the top cave with the two green and red light up spheres, I couldn't pull the red one at all. The green moved fine, but the red was either jammed or I was doing something wrong. After 5 minutes of trying I gave up on it. I'll be sure to try it again later wh I'm less frustrated with it! Great job!

Mhhh I don't understand your problem with the red sphere. I never had one when I was testing the level.
Got it stucked in its hole ? Couldn't you move it at all ?
I'll check this next time I play.

Thank you for the review, I hope you'll try it again and will be able to get through this puzzle

First of all thank you for the review on my level (Crooked Canyons).

Pros

+ Cool intro
+The level looked really good
+ Very interesting puzzles
+ The boat was awesome

Cons

-The level had a quite slow pace (Kind of love it or hate it I guess)
- My thumb hurt after having to swim in the water for so long
- There weren't that whole lot of puzzles.

Overall it was a very cool level and well worthy of a ''YAY''

Played it yesterday and kind of liked it . It was ok, I can see you've spend time on the level creation, and I hope you'll improve cause I like what you've done.

Visuals were good. Not perfect, but nice and they fit the theme well. The puzzles and obstacle and gameplay were ok, but not that fun. This is my major concern about this level. It lacked fun. The pace was too slow, the fact that we're almost always under water, the fact that we have to trackback, the boat puzzle with the crane and weird controls, everything was ok but not great. In the end, i enjoyed it, and the previous sentence is maybe too harsh . As i said, visuals were good, theme was good, and puzzles were good, but it lacked the thing that makes you stop and say "Wow!".

Anyway, you get a yay from me, and i'll look forward to see the sequel

Thanks for all the feedbacks.
I know that my level is a bit slow.
In fact, this was the purpose of the level.
I'm actually creating the sequel in the pyramid and I can tell you that this'll be more more speed.
I still have a lot of work on this and don't know when I will release it.

It's not only the slow aspect of the level. Did you play At world's end? It's kind of slow too, but it didn't feel slow, because of the crazy and stunning visuals.

I'm looking forward the part inside the pyramid as I enjoyed the first part made on LBP1, I guess it will have the same feeling (with the addition of possibilities of the lbp2 tools).

Just played the prequels to this level and this level. Really great work! Already liked the 2 LBP1 levels very much.

Anyway, just about this level now. It's a bit short but since you're splitting it up in parts that's okay. Just makes me sad I can't continue yet.
I really liked the fact that this whole part is pretty much a puzzle to open up the entrance to the pyramid. Visuals were nice (not the best I've seen but still great!) and it was pretty fun to play even though the biggest part was under water. But seeing as this is just a short part of a whole level I can't really say much more about it. Just that I'm really looking forward to the next part. I'm sure it'll be great as well!

Played your level, love the scenery and the mechanics of the ship but their is a minor problem. You know the part where all the blocks move underwater? Well the doorway got stuck and made passage deeper into the water cavern impossible. I think you should try using a glass material or material changer to prevent this bug... other than that It looks awesome!.
And I fixed the problems you stated for my level, could you please try it again and give feedback? Thanks. http://lbp.me/v/5-zvfy

When I played it earlier today the end of the level with the to be continued came up before the intro played. The "t" at the end of ancient is missing and beautiful only has one "l" just little things . I found that found that I barely had enough time to get through the underwater piston area and would add like 3-4 seconds too it. Also I would make it so that pushing the crane button makes it go up or down instead of having it go up automatically so that it is easier to pick up the orb things.2011-09-05 03:30:00

Thanks Rillan.
The to be continued bug is fixed. Sorry for that.
Your idea for the crane is good. I'll try to do this.

hey played youre level today and loved it!
the underwater part is a bit slow, but allot of people already said that
I played it together with my son and he loved the boat, had to pull him of it eventually to continue
i played it earlier today but i see you already noticed the continue sign.
also i might have done something wrong or missed something but when i went through the maze to the puzzle all the way on the left i couldnt go back, i had to kill myself to respawn at the portal.

but seriously love the design and feel of the level, is beautifull man!! looking forward to playing the next one!!

ps. thanks for checking my level !!

Nice art man! That was pretty cool! The puzzles were hard, try removing some decorations that hide the path. Oh, and the krabby in the sea, remove that. Doesn't fit in. I like the desert. Waiting for part 2 2011-09-05 18:48:00

Pros

+The intro is very well done
+I like the music played while approaching the oasis, it is ambient and fits the mood well
+The puzzles are nice, and I like how they mesh together to eventually open up the pyramid

Constructive criticism:
-The foreground gate in the underwater section makes that part of the level look cluttered, and it is hard to see where to go. (Especially in the maze).
-The crane on the boat is very cool, but picking up the orbs feels a little harder than it should be.
-As said before, the underwater sections did slow down the pacing of the level...but this shouldn't be a problem since the next portion takes place inside the pyramid.
Nice level Maxouze, let me know when part 2 comes out!

Played this a couple of days ago and enjoyed the puzzle based gameplay combined with the atmospheric setting. All the mechanics and switch sections worked well for me and I'm not the best at working out puzzles so I happy to finish. I enjoyed the pace and liked the visuals, clever use of cameras to add a feeling of scale when needed too. Will definitely play the next part, I hope the temple has a sense of granduer and scale too as this is often missing in temple levels. Check this out if you would like a demonstration:

Thanks for the review on my level.

and the krabby in the sea, remove that. Doesn't fit in
I completely disagree. I loved the crab
Very nice gameplay. Although slow, it was easy which made the gameply not repetitive and frustrating, which would've ruined it for most. Most places the visuals could use a bit more polish.
The part at the beggining of the water, where you went to the left throught a small tunnel where a checkpoint is, I coudn't tell that the block of sponge wasn't blocking al three layers, not just two. This meant I wandered around in the ship (the ship was awesome!) for awhile wondering where to go.
Overall it was an enjoyable, relaxing level.

Thanks a lot Bob.
Be sure that next part is no more relaxing
The pyramid is a dangerous place.
Hope you'll like it.
I spend a lot of time on it.
I think I'll need a third level because the thermo gets higher and higher very fast ^^

So, the level's launch didn't go great so I'm leaving feedback here anyway.

This level was pretty fun, the scenery was nice and the hieroglyphs set it apart from other levels of this theme.

one criticism I have is the underwater tunnels are far too long and prolonged imo, keep that in mind for next time!

Yeah, I know its a bit too long.
Everyone tells it ^_^
I'm sorry for this problem in the level. The second part is less less boring I think, you should try it.
