My Sychned Up contest entry. I didn't really do this to win a crown (although that would be nice ), more as motivation to help me complete a level. And I did!! After spending the last three days creating almost nonstop... So I present to you a level that is my first, other than an LBP PSP level that I unpublished and then it disappeared... As I was saying, this is my first level, so be harsh and tell me how to improve. http://lbp.me/v/46dncz Some Pictures: http://i1.lbp.me/img/fh/df4d0eaf1762d3220260279a81ace702e5f343a8.png http://i1.lbp.me/img/fh/5c7819152cda9e1bbf51c0204a00133e25cd5faf.png http://i1.lbp.me/img/fh/56c8391a8397c83cdf6174b5aa1ce23df6b4c99e.png | 2011-08-31 05:20:00 Author: BobtheYoungFish Posts: 56 |

Added to my queue I'll try the level this evening. and will edit this post for feedback. My level : http://lbp.me/v/5k3-t5 Oh my god!! This was a sooo cool level. I loved the idea of playing with the music to move elements. It was really well implemented in your level. By the way, I wasn't able to finish the level. I got stuck behing a glass and couldn't do anithing there, too bad. | 2011-09-01 06:20:00 Author: Maxouze Posts: 96 |
I got stuck behing a glass and couldn't do anithing there, too bad. hmm, Was this behind one of the windows or was it somewhere else? Could you still retry? thanks for playing | 2011-09-01 17:49:00 Author: BobtheYoungFish Posts: 56 |
I really like all the levels coming out of the LBPC3. Music based levels? Let's do this! | 2011-09-01 21:12:00 Author: Mysteltain Posts: 59 |
hmm, Was this behind one of the windows or was it somewhere else? Could you still retry? thanks for playing At some point in the level, you got threw up and then you are behind a window, you go to the left a bit (and you don't see your sack for a while) and then a second window. I got stuck on the second one and nothing happened. I searched for 5 minutes and nothing. I made my sack explode and went back there and the same happened. I even found a glitch and went out of your track at the first window, I was out of the level, on the white ground with a bit of items you left there ^^ | 2011-09-01 21:19:00 Author: Maxouze Posts: 96 |
I have looked at my level on lbp.me (I am away from my ps3 atm, enjoying the company of my family) and I noticed that nobody has completed my level. Some people have mentioned that the right stick will stop working after awhile. Is this it or is it something else? I know that I rushed fixing the music-not-looping and I might have done it wrong. Does the right stick only stop working after the music stops? At some point in the level, you got threw up and then you are behind a window, you go to the left a bit (and you don't see your sack for a while) and then a second window Ah, this part. There should be a block that are able to move up and down. You move it down, go on it and go up. Then you go right and continue the level. This makes the most sense (to me) for what's stopping people from completing the level. Anyways, thanks for playing and reviewing. | 2011-09-04 03:31:00 Author: BobtheYoungFish Posts: 56 |
I'm not sure if the Scoreboard Glitch makes it so you can't tell if anyone's finished your level, but for me, it stopped working after the music ended its first loop. Outside of that issue though, the level really looks great. I like the concept of timed button presses affecting the level, and the music was really good too. And I think the problem about that block you mentioned is that it's VERY hard to see. I spent a good thirty seconds or so trying to figure out why I couldn't go up. I figured that it might be a block, and I ended up crushing myself underneath it, haha. | 2011-09-04 14:09:00 Author: Mysteltain Posts: 59 |

I'm not sure if the Scoreboard Glitch makes it so you can't tell if anyone's finished your level I haven't heard that before, but I will look into it... EDIT: Okay, I just looked at a level that I KNOW that I have completed. The info on lbp.me for this also says completed 0 times. So I guess it's not my level, it's probably the scoreboards. That's nice to know And I think the problem about that block you mentioned is that it's VERY hard to see. Ya, I thought that might happen...oh well, another thing to fix when the contest is over.. | 2011-09-04 17:18:00 Author: BobtheYoungFish Posts: 56 |
i played your lvl i must say the idea is good and also a fluid gameplay the design is ok but some areas a little bit hard but possible i died the most of the time at the spikes cuz the speed when I fell down i saw the spikes to late but anyway its a good lvl and gave him a like update: but i dont understand he pointsystem cuz i can do endless points ^^ | 2011-09-08 14:09:00 Author: Z1091990 Posts: 84 |
i died the most of the time at the spikes cuz the speed when I fell down i saw the spikes to late Can you be more specific as to where this is? i dont understand he pointsystem Me neither I wanted to somehow do a multiplier, but I didn't know how to prevent people from getting endless points...any suggestions? | 2011-09-08 23:30:00 Author: BobtheYoungFish Posts: 56 |
Queueing it now, will check it out tonight when the kids are in bed. | 2011-09-09 22:57:00 Author: Brannayen Posts: 438 |
I posted a review in game, but I'll post here as well. I, too, found the infinite points problem. I was able to finish the level at least, and most of it was quite fun. There was one spot that was rather difficult, with a huge gap between doors. I found myself back at the same door many many times, and there was a switch that didn't seem to do anything at all, unless it was off screen. As far as your multiplier issue, you could try something like this: have a player sensor that covers each group of obstacles, and only allow 1 multiplier per player sensor. | 2011-09-10 03:15:00 Author: Brannayen Posts: 438 |

I don't really get what part this is... As far as your multiplier issue I think I will make it so you have 100beats(or something) to get as many points as you can from moving the right stick. | 2011-09-10 16:31:00 Author: BobtheYoungFish Posts: 56 |

I liked the idea of fooling the player and killing him/her until they come back to there and know exactly what to do | 2011-09-10 22:19:00 Author: BobtheYoungFish Posts: 56 |

Sorry it took so long to get back to your F4F request. I've been somewhat busy lately, but here's the verdict (hurray for getting back to my old review system!): Story/Dialog N/A Gameplay + Very unique and engaging platforming + Using the right stick to directly control elements in the level was genius - Though the timing of the beat in which you can successfully move objects with the stick is consistent and in time with the song, it doesn't seem to follow the drum beat* Design and Aesthetics + Simple, yet refined design doesn't detract from the gamplay + Platforming elements are all incorporated well into the scenery + Perfect musical synchronization + Excellent upbeat, catchy tune - The crazy flashing patterns behind the player look cool, but they're very distracting - (Very) few unsightly parts** Final Thoughts *You need to look at the blue circle to time it right. I feel it could feel a lot more natural if it was synced to the drum beat instead, allowing fluent gameplay by ear alone. **The sticker that says "gravity" is surrounded by a big black rectangle, and is hard to read. I had no idea what was going on in that part because I couldn't read the sign before the cutscene ended. All in all, this level is great. We have a great platforming jewel here. +/- Spread +: 6 -: 3 Spread: +3 Final Score: 8.5/10 | 2011-10-01 06:04:00 Author: xero Posts: 2419 |
You need to look at the blue circle to time it right. I feel it could feel a lot more natural if it was synced to the drum beat instead, allowing fluent gameplay by ear alone. I needed the circle there because when I was testing it, the tempo of the song means it's very easy to confuse the downbeat(1, 2, 3, 4), when you move the stick, with the upbeat (1 and, 2 and, 3 and, 4 and), unless you have the circle. I do have a quiet cymbol crash that goes in time with what you have to do. I guess I could make this louder and more obvious, but I don't know how well this would work... I am somewhat confused as what you mean by "it doesn't seem to follow the drum beat". The unsightly parts I am working on, and the part with the "gravity" sticker, I am planning on making the game camera bigger so that you can see most of the section at a time. The crazy flashing patterns behind the player look cool, but they're very distracting Yay, finally someone says something about that! (the looking cool part ) My sister, a non-LBP-er, said that that looked really cool while I was working on it, but that was before I had made it follow the player. When she saw it following the player, she said the same thing as you, that it's distracting. I don't want to take it out completely, but it would be nice to make it less distracting. Any suggestions? It doesn't distract me at all, probably because I've memorized the gameplay(and the visual effects) so much that I can almost do the level without looking We have a great platforming jewel here. Thanks for the feedback, and mentioning some things that haven't been mentioned before. | 2011-10-01 18:41:00 Author: BobtheYoungFish Posts: 56 |
I don't want to take it out completely, but it would be nice to make it less distracting. Any suggestions? Hmm... perhaps you could make them less bright, or more transparent? They'd still be there, but they'd be less prominent. | 2011-10-01 21:35:00 Author: xero Posts: 2419 |
