Anyone here has ever had a problem with the HTC Evo 4G charging port? This is my third Evo 4G (in just a few months). The second one was delivered UPS from Sprint and the first and last one came from the same local Sprint store... all were replaced due to same issue with the charging port. I really like the phone but this port problem makes my likes for HTC drop. Starting to wish I hadn't replaced the Blackberry. The rep at the Sprint store told me I shouldn't use the phone while it's being charged. Hm. A phone with short battery life. She was kind enough to give me a second battery. But really, I'm wondering what on earth could be going wrong... If there is something I'm doing wrong or if this phone is not all that good as I have read.2011-08-30 08:32:00

I'm assuming you're using a lithium-ion battery?

I had the same problem with my new HTC sensation - very short battery life.

But after changing a few habits, I've managed to vastly improve the battery life.
First - no you shouldn't use your handset while it's charging (or at least try not to use it as much as you can).
Second - Don't charge it from a plug power source - only charge it from a USB. This is a "low voltage" charge - and while the battery will take longer to charge - it will also hold it's charge longer.
Third - Powersaving on your handset. Close any background apps running, Switch off bluetooth/Wifi/GPS etc when not in use. Lower the brightness of the screen as that is where most charge will be used.

Follow those three steps and I bet you see an improvement

My HTC Desire has a short battery life aswell, there's a lot you can tweak to improve that though, you can do that with your evo aswell, maybe this will help

Never heard that trick of loading it through USB instead of a plug power source, should try that...

I'm trying to make it with this phone. God knows I am. I've put the brightness on low unless I reallly need it. I've been good so far at not using the phone with the charger plugged in. But It seems now that the original charger that has the cable that can be plugged in the pc has some sort of shortage. Doesn't work properly. This only happens to me. Lol. So I'm just using the wall socket for the time being. Thanks for the info!2011-09-05 05:51:00
