Amnesia -The Dark Descent-

Hello, I'm creating a tribute to the Survival horror PC game, Amnesia.

I'm keeping moderately quite about the details of the project right now, but all I can say is that it will work just as Amnesia does, and I will try my best to keep it just as frightening as the original.

Currently I'm working on the logic and menus, but I am also building areas. With the help of my Friend Ironpyrite.
If anyone is interested in helping, I'm looking for help with the soundtrack and some of the cinematic stuff as usual.

This level is more of a test of sorts, of what kind of response I'll keep from the community, as I'm making my own original project with similar gameplay features, but I'm also keeping quite about that.

I plan to finish the level withing two weeks, but with my record, not sure if that will happen, but I will try my best.

Thanks for reading, and keep an eye out for the level when it's finished

Oh, I see what you mean, It's going to be a side scroller, top-down is cheap, and FPS is hard to work with.2011-08-30 04:59:00

-waits patiently for the best thing ever-
I loved that game. SO much. It was so... grabbing. It pulled me in, and even though it startled me at first, I couldn't NOT play it. Every time I stopped I had to go back. D:
Unfortunately, it doesn't have much replay value but gah...

I heard they're other games like it though. o.o Who wants to give me the names so I can go get them <3

So ya, I'm excited for this level :3

How did I steal your idea I didnt even know anyone else was making it. But sorry, I don't actually need any logical help. I already have myself and my friend. But thanks for the offer though.

Hmmm... There probably isn't one set in a school then, that's probably just what I took from the video darn, still worth the play of course but school settings are always great ^_^2011-08-31 00:59:00

About it beeing scairy, it has potential to be GG and moderaded by the little kids. Make sure that you get the message across that it is scairy...
I havent played the game... but it sounds good. I will keep my eye out for the level!

Yes, I was planning to enclude a message before the level starts and an agreement that it will INDEED be very scary, and a disclaimer that it will be dark and they may need to adjust their gamma. lol.

I actually tried to make this a few months back, but it was FP, thing is, i had to rotate the entire thing around a centre and it became too complicated. I'd love to help, Amnesia is a favourite of mine and scared the hell outta me 2011-09-05 10:55:00

Just been watching Tobuscus Let's Play of this.

If Its side-scroll, I'll assume hiding in a cupboard will switch to a first-person shot from inside, where you can slowly open the door before stepping back out?

I like that idea, but if that's too difficult, I have an idea:
With the cupboard/hidey-ho closed all the way, turn the lights down completely. Have the lights attached to a dimming mechanism, which would be controlled by the amount your hiding door is open/closed. This way, the more open it is, the more you can see around you, while if its closed all the way, the best you do is listen and wait ^^

Well, I've seen the main corridor. Looks great, albeit a little liney on the windows.

I wouldn't say the closet thing is too difficult. In fact, it'd be quite reasonable now I begin to think about it...

Yeah the First person thing isnt a bad idea. I'll have to try it out.
Wouldnt be sure how to make the monsters right topdown. Unless its in a DCS.
